All You Need to Know Before Investing in Get Rich Writing-Online Tutorials
I did the work for you.

I’m here with a guide to save you time, money, and stress.
I have done all the work and research for you and am going to summarize what is in those Get Rich Writing Online Tutorials so you don’t have to waste your time watching them.
You’ve seen them and probably fallen victim to more than a few. The online guide promises you writers and side hustlers riches beyond your wildest dreams if you follow the presenter’s step-by-step simple formula explained in the FREE tutorial. FREE — the magic word. Who isn’t going to listen to a How-to-Get-Rich primer for FREE?
Understand that these Free tutorials are designed to get you so worked up and excited that you will give the presenter your firstborn child in exchange for the magic information that will turn you into a multimillionaire writer.
What frustrated writer on Medium making $13 a month, content creator making $5 for 1000 word article on Fiverr, or independent author who can’t sell one copy of their self-published book, wouldn’t jump at the chance to make millions of dollars from their writing?
Your rational side knows that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, but you’re desperate for any measure of success and these masters at salesmanship know it.
A little background information on why I spent three years doing this research.
My first website (www.thealzheimerspous.com) was an accidental runaway success from the moment it was launched in 2007, largely because it tapped an up-to-then-untouched niche of issues exclusive to Alzheimer spouses. It was #1 in Google for the eight years it was active.
Years later, when I launched a different website (talktimewithjoan.com), I struggled to find an audience, and switched to writing on Medium and Vocal, figuring I would have a built-in audience.
When that didn’t generate the audience or income I desired, I looked for more opportunities for making money writing online, and that is when I stumbled upon scores of lessons and courses on how to become a millionaire from writing online.
My painstaking research demonstrates that regardless of what they are selling, the 60+ minute program videos follow the same formula, which I will now generously share with you:
The Impoverished Background Story — 12–15 excruciating minutes.
- In this segment that is designed to rev you up into doing anything to emulate their success, the presenter explains in mind-numbing detail how poor they used to be — living paycheck to paycheck; unable to pay the rent; living in their car or homeless shelters. After putting into practice all the tools they are going to teach you, they now live in a million-dollar home, take fabulous vacations to exotic lands, drive a luxury car, consistently make a high six-figure income, and have a net worth in the millions of dollars.
- To make you salivate more, they give examples of their actual clients, explaining in excruciating detail how poor each of them used to be and how wealthy they are now after completing and following the program.
The Big Reveal — 5–7 Minutes
1. This is the meat of the video, and also where you can learn valuable information. You may or may not be able to use it, and it is doubtful it will turn you into a millionaire, but if there is useful information, this is where it will be found. They explain what the program is. The programs are not limited to these, but they are the most common:
*Selling e-books on Amazon that you don’t have to write.
*Writing e-books with nothing in them, such as empty-page journals, calendars, or appointment books.
*Developing a business on Amazon selling products you don’t have to store or ship on your own.
The Real Sale: — The Final 40 Minutes
This is where they tell you that you don’t have to go it alone. They will coach you every step of the way. To prove it, they show you 10 pages of products you will get with their program, from scores of video tutorials, reams of pdf files of tutorials, coaching calls, and Zoom classes, to name a few.
You are then shown five more pages of explanations of the worth of each of these products. Three years ago, the approximate worth of this bounty was in the $5,000 range, but if you hurry, and only now, at this moment, while watching this tutorial, you can scoop up this great deal for the unbelievable price of $297 OR three easy payments of $125 each. Yes, I know the math doesn’t work, but they justify it by saying if you pay all at once, you’ll save $78.
The pandemic, job losses, and inflation have changed the money situation since I started watching these three years ago. That $5,000 price has ballooned to between $10,000 and $30,000. And your special price is now in the $1,000- $2,000 range, although there are still some bargains for $297.
Before you spend money you probably don’t have by maxing out a credit card, and after you calm down from excitement at such a great deal, you may want to look at the situation realistically.
IF you did jump in and buy the program, the amount of time and work involved is almost insurmountable. I am NOT saying it is IMPOSSIBLE. I am saying that it is realistically improbable, given that there are only 24 hours in a day and a few of them need to be utilized sleeping.
One example of your path to riches is selling best-selling e-books on Amazon Kindle that you don’t have to write. The presenter repeatedly emphasizes how easy this is; how anyone can do it; Simple Simon.
The Reality:
This involves researching genres that sell well in Kindle ebooks by reading charts and statistics, researching ghostwriters who write in the best-selling genre by reading their work and reviews and hiring a five-star ghostwriter for the bargain basement price of $250.
Next, you have to research storylines that are guaranteed best-sellers (????) and assign the ghostwriter to write one for $250 or less. All ghostwriters, according to this presenter, are going to trample each other for this chance of a lifetime.
There’s researching and hiring cover artists, learning to self-market, putting the book on Kindle, and watching it fly to the top of the charts, earning you thousands in easy money. Rinse. Repeat. Five times. Five best-selling books. $$$$$$ in your bank account.
I think you are getting the idea of the massive amount of work involved and the chances of a $250 ghostwritten book reaping thousands of dollars for you.
If you are lucky enough to already have a job that is at least paying your bills, where is the time going to come from for you to do all this reading, watching, video conferencing, and learning? Where is the time going to come from to do all the genre, statistics, and ghostwriting research? Where is the money going to come from to pay for ghostwriting, editing, and artistic services?
If you don’t have a job that pays the bills, how is all this time spent going to help you keep a roof over your head?
Apparently, someone either complained loudly enough, sued someone, or otherwise captured the attention of the executives who allow these advertisers on their platforms, because they now come with a disclaimer.
Mr/Ms. Multimillionaire slips in a little blurb about how the “results are not typical” and are wholly dependent upon how much time and effort you are willing to put into it.
One seller I watched recently was exceptionally honest about it, asking for patience while he recited a notice that he admitted the executives forced him to include. He robotically ran through it before continuing on with his hard sell.
That’s it. I watched and reported so you don’t have to waste your time and money.
I understand that everyone, including me, is trying to make money to survive. I am not faulting these sellers for trying to make a living. I suppose good for them if they can get you to part with your money to buy what they are selling. But I am here to warn you that, in spite of the high gloss graphics, fancy fast-talking huckstering, and examples of rags-to-riches success stories, there is no easy path to making money by writing online, writing e-books, selling books you did or did not write, or any other type of work.
I wish everyone the best of luck in their writing careers. I have no doubt that many of you will make a reasonable living from writing. But make no mistake about it. There are no shortcuts. Writing, as with any serious career, takes an inordinate investment of TIME, PERSISTANCE, HARD WORK, and ENERGY.
