POETRY | WORLD PEACE
All the Unnecessary Wars
How many times must we look with our eyes, see planes fly in our skies?
How many times must we look with our eyes, see planes fly in our skies?
See the bombs drop like rain, see the faces filled with pain, as everyone dies?
How many moments must we hear all their lies, while combatants make their alibis?
And everyone makes excuses for another stupid war, where we always go too far,
We have to hide another scar and ignore another mother or a child as she cries.
Too many guns, too many dead, too many reasons in all seasons, for how things are.
I know we are weak, we always find words to speak, when we want to fight a war.
But for once let’s take a pause, find a better cause, live a better truth in peace
When O Lord will constant calls for war, as contagious as they are, finally cease?
I’ve heard the song before, we must settle a score, and force the other side to see.
But all we ever see is the damage and the pain, through the torrential rains we bring
For once in our anger let’s push off the present danger and find another song to sing
Mercy is the answer, like a beautiful dancer making pirouettes that warm our Hearts
For once let’s muster the faith and courage, to stop an awful war before it starts
