All The Single Ladies, Gents, And Enbies!
Not everything has to come in pairs
For those without romantic partners, the day after V-Day is a day to celebrate being single — because that’s a valid life path too. Even if you’d rather be in a relationship, the single life can have its perks!
And just like with relationships, there are ups and downs to it as well.
Whether you’re recalling a distant memory or examining your current life, I’m certain there’s a single-ness story worth sharing!
I had pined over him for the entire summer, wishing with every beat of my aching heart that he would randomly show up at my door and want me back. So many tears, so much confusion about why he had left in the first place. It had been exhausting.
“You know, I don’t really feel like I need a man anymore.” The words flew out of my mouth like silk. It surprised me how true they were.
“That’s awesome!” My friend exclaimed as she walked beside me. “I know the last few months have been hard on you.”
The midday sun beamed down, the usually unbearable heat of summer felt comfortably wrapped around me like a hug from God. I would be ok. Being single is actually pretty fun, I mused.
As we walked back to my house, we talked about how much better it was to be single anyway; no one to answer to, we could do whatever we wanted. Not a care in the world for how it would affect a partner. I didn’t miss his jealousy, or his possessive nature in the slightest. There were things I did miss, but…
Before I was able to consider how single life compared to a relationship, I noticed someone knocking on my door. Wait… is that… him??
We’ve all been single at some point
