Aiming For FAME On Medium? Might Be a One-Way Ticket to Suspension.

Level Up Your Game & Beat Your Competition In An Honest Way.

Don’t Wait For Someone To Come Your Way..

You need to place crumbs all over the place for someone to eventually find you, and 90% of the outcome is up to you.

Don’t Copy Other People’s “Success”.

You might have heard about the recent ban wave in attempts to counter spam and bots, and to keep the platform safe and of high quality..

Medium has a cap of 100 comments per day for a reason.

The majority of users on Medium will not face any issues with that limit, ever, and I promise, even though some people will try to defend their actions..

You Cannot Make 100 Real, Genuine, Well-Thought Comments 7 Days Per Week Unless You Are Unemployed.

Everyone is looking for traction, and want to increase their earnings, and the whole “follow for follow”-scheme has undeniably transformed into a “comment for comment” situation..

All in desperate attempts to make a name for yourself.

People Want, Need, And Desire Money.

You Might Think That It’s A Pretty Bold Statement To Say That No One Can Make 100 Comments Per Day, 7 Days Per Week..

Let Me Explain Why It Is Impossible:

In all honesty, you don’t read 100 articles to begin with. That’s 300 minutes of reading, daily, if you read short 3-minute stories.

  • That’s 5 Hours Of Reading.

The next thing you want to do, is to highlight certain aspects of the stories you read, as you are trying to get attention, right?

You do this in hopes of people “returning the favor” after all.

That’s probably another 1 minute for each story.

That’s 100 minutes of highlighting..

So you spend 6 hours and 40 minutes in total on stories so far.

Next, we have the actual comments you make. While some people might know exactly what they want to say the minute they read something.

They have answers or can add value of some sort instantly..

  • Most people aren’t that good though.

Let’s say you are that type of person, so you instantly start typing your comments. You click away on your keyboard and form sentences of various lengths, adding value and contributing in some way to the conversation, to the story, or just in a way to express gratitude for the content you’ve just read..

The Average Person Types Between 38 And 40 Words Per Minute. The Average Sentence Length Is Between 15–20 Words..

So, You Spend Roughly 1 Minute Per Comment You Make.

1 minute per comment, x 100 comments = 100 minutes per day.

  • That’s another 1 hour and 40 minutes per day.

Let’s say you type a bit faster than average and manage to write all the comments in 1 hour.. Let’s also assume that you highlight things quickly.

You still spend 1-hour typing, 5 hours reading and about 1 hour highlighting content..

With all of this being said, you spend 7 hours per day, just doing these few things. What I haven’t even mentioned yet, is loading time and “search time”.

In today’s age, loading time isn’t a big deal. It takes 2 seconds or whatever to load a short story. We could include the “wait time” if we wanted, but I think you get the picture already..

The “search time” is a bit more interesting though..

You cannot possibly have 100 stories lined up in the queue for you to read, highlight, digest, and comment on.. Not content that you are interested in, care about, or actually want to read.

So, How Much Time Do You Spend Searching For Good, Or At Least Somewhat Decent Content To Interact With?

Let us assume that you are spending another 1 minute per story you are searching for.. — 100 more minutes you spend in total.

You Are Up To 8+ Hours Per Day, Easily.

Still Trying To Convince People That You Care About The Community More Than Your Own Gains?

Look, I don’t judge people and I totally understand that people are on Medium to grow and to earn money.

  • That’s the whole purpose of the partner program.

I am fine with that, and I wouldn’t have been a paying member if I hadn’t tried to make money as well.

However..

I don’t try to become an overnight success on Medium, while surfing on the ripples I have managed to create from all of those hundreds of low-quality comments I have produced..

I like to earn, but I won’t mass-produce poor comments in attempts of getting recognition and exposure. I like real interactions.
