4 Best AI Music Generators of 2024 (I Tested Them All)

Did you know you can create original music with AI? All you need is an AI music generator tool and 30 seconds of your time.

In this post, I will show you the best AI music generators on the market. I tested each tool so you don’t have to.

Let’s jump into it!

1. Loudly

Loudly is an AI-powered music generator that has been designed for a wide range of users, from music lovers and artists to content creators.

It stands out for its user-friendly interface and extensive library of professionally crafted audio samples, allowing you to create unique music tracks with ease.

But let’s see if it’s worth giving a shot.

Key Features

  • AI Music Generator: Loudly allows you to generate high-quality music quickly using AI, making it an ideal tool for creating catchy melodies or background scores.
  • Customizable Music: You can modify various aspects of the music, such as energy levels, instruments, and volume, to fit their projects perfectly.
  • Easy to Use: Similar to other tools on this list, Loudly offers an incredibly easy UI for generating beats in different genres and styles.

My Experience

Unlike most AI music creators on this list, Loudly allowed me to start generating beats even without signing up!

Here’s a step-by-step demonstration of what I did to give birth to my first AI song by Loudly:

First, you need to choose a genre.

If that’s all you want to do, you can already press “Generate”. This will render a bunch of original and unique AI-powered tracks for you.

Of course, you can make some more adjustments by clicking on the side panel on the left:

For example, when I wanted to make my song 3:00 in length, it instantly prompted me that I needed a paid plan.

After tweaking these settings, it’s time to generate the track! Of course, it then prompted me to sign up. But hey, that’s not a surprise — all the other tools on this list required me to do the same.

After signing up, to my surprise, the tool didn’t just render one song but three original and unique AI songs. Epic!

I started to listen through those.

The very first one was already better than any one of the other AI tools I tested. That sounded like a professional track and I couldn’t hear any flaws in it.

Of course, this tool also didn’t generate lyrics to the songs, but it’s still pretty impressive.

But when it comes to editing the track, there’s not much you can do. This doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner. But if you’re a pro and would like to shuffle things around, you don’t have similar options you’d have on a traditional DAW.

Anyways, there is a studio mode with some knobs! Just select “Studio” on any of the AI-generated tracks.

This opens up a view like this:

Here you can tweak the knobs and experiment with what it does to your track.

I did it too fast as I got an error…

But after waiting for 15 seconds and retrying, I was able to make the knobs work.

Just play your song and start messing with the knobs, you can instantly tell what it does to the track. :)

I loved the radio effect. That’s a popular trick in electronic music that many producers and DJs use to give some boost to the song.

If you want to make your tracks longer than 30 seconds or if you want to download one of the tracks for use, you need to upgrade your plan.

All in all, I think this tool is awesome. It’s free to use. Easy to use. Funny to experiment with. And most importantly, the results sound 7/10 or even 8/10 when compared to real producers, in my opinion.

Pros

  • Ease of Use: The platform is user-friendly and anyone can get started with no musical background.
  • Extensive Music Library: With over 200,000 audio samples, you have a huge array of options for generating diverse tracks.
  • Versatility: Suitable for filmmakers, content creators, and artists looking for genre-blending scores or soundtracks for video projects.
  • Affordability: Loudly offers both free plans and personalized options, making it accessible to a wide range of users.

Cons

  • Limited Genres: The platform is currently limited to 12 music genres, which may restrict you from looking for more specific styles.
  • AI Recommender Limitations: The AI recommender can be slow or not always accurate in its suggestions. Also, the Studio mode failed to render one of my songs.
  • Sample Library Limitations: The number of audio samples, while extensive, is not infinite, which might require you to search more for the perfect sound.

Pricing

Loudly offers a Freemium model, making it accessible for you to start with a basic set of features without any initial investment.

For more advanced features and capabilities, you might need to opt for paid subscriptions.

Plans vary from $0 to $14.99/mo (besides the custom plan).

Bottom Line

Loudly is an innovative tool that leverages AI to simplify and enhance the music creation process.

This tool is simple and easy to use. The big soundbanks and the use of AI give you professional-sounding music. You can even do some tricks on the tracks in the studio mode.

Because it’s a free tool, I’d give it a shot. At least my results were quite amazing!

2. Soundraw

Soundraw.io is an innovative AI-based music generation tool that has gained attention in the creative community.

It allows you to generate an unlimited number of songs, catering to various needs like background music for videos, podcasts, games, and more.

But does it work? Let me test it for you so you don’t have to!

Key Features

  • Unlimited Song Generation: You can create an unlimited number of songs and bookmark your favorites for easy access.
  • Customization Options: Soundraw offers extensive customization, including adjustments in tempo, key, chord progression, volume, and panning. It also includes a melody editor for crafting unique melodies.
  • Real-Time Collaboration and Sharing: The tool enables real-time collaboration and easy export of compositions in formats like MIDI, MP3, and WAV.
  • Real-Time Feedback: As you make adjustments, Soundraw provides a live preview, allowing you to see the transformation of your music in real-time.

My Experience

I’ve extensively tested SoundRaw.

Creating with it couldn’t be easier. You don’t even need to sign up to create unique music. Just head over to their website and choose the length, tempo, and genre.

I went with 3:00 duration:

I gave Electronica a try:

Then after just a couple of seconds, the tool generated a list of AI-generated songs it had just created. Wow!

The only downside with this was that it took a while to load these songs. So when you click play, it can easily take 30–60 seconds to play the song. Not bad, still!

I loved the first one it created. If I had heard that song on the radio, I would’ve never paid attention to it as if it was generated by AI. There were no lyrics in the songs I generated, though.

To my disappointment (but not a surprise), you need to sign up and pay for a plan to download and use those songs. But that makes total sense! :)

I tried to get clever and skip the subscription after signing up in hopes of being able to download the song…

But when I went back to the list of AI-generated songs, it prompted me back to a paid plan before downloading.

Let’s continue exploration.

One thing I love about this tool is that it allows to make easy edits to the song. For example, if there’s a part of the song you don’t like, just hover over it and delete it! It’s that simple.

Also, you can open up the custom Edit panel for further adjustments.

For instance, here I removed the backing and something else from the song to make it simpler.

These little tweaks altered the song nicely while keeping the vibe and sound intact (unlike AI image generators where small changes can flip the output around entirely).

So this is an easy-to-use music editor in addition to being able to create songs.

Recommend trying—it’s free!

Pros

  • Ease of Use: Soundraw is user-friendly, requiring no music composition knowledge to create tracks.
  • Licensing: Once a song or sound is downloaded with a subscription, you are licensed to use it in their videos forever.
  • Quality of Output: The AI-generated music is of high quality, resonating with professional quality and artistic integrity.

Cons

  • Limited Download Formats: Currently, file downloads are only available in .wav format.
  • No Free Download: This tool doesn’t allow you to download music for free. But that kind of makes sense, doesn’t it?
  • Copyright Ownership: Soundraw retains copyright ownership of works produced on its platform.
  • No Sound Effects: There are currently no sound effects (SFX) available on Soundraw, and no timeline for their release.
  • Limited Instructional Resources: There is a lack of comprehensive instructional resources for utilizing all of Soundraw’s features effectively. I didn’t see this but I read it from other reviews.

Pricing

  • Annual: $16.99/mo
  • Monthly: $19.99/mo

Bottom Line

SoundRaw is an innovative tool for both novice and experienced music producers.

Just tell the genre and duration and you’ll get a bunch of unique and original songs out of thin air. It’s that AI magic!

It simplifies the music creation process with its AI technology and extensive customization options.

While it has some limitations, such as the format of downloads and ownership of copyright, it remains a valuable tool for content creators and businesses looking for original, high-quality music tracks.

And because you can use it for free, why not give it a shot?

3. Boomy AI

Boomy is an AI-powered music-making platform that has garnered attention for its ability to enable you, regardless of your musical background, to effortlessly create your original songs.

It stands out in the realm of music technology by providing user-friendly features and integrating AI algorithms for music creation.

Let’s see how it performs.

Key Features

  • AI-Generated Music: Boomy uses AI algorithms to create music based on your inputs, allowing for the generation of unique songs.
  • Customization Options: Personalize your creations by adding your vocals, adjusting compositions, and making other modifications to enhance your tracks.
  • Community and Collaboration: Boomy fosters a vibrant artist community, offering social and collaborative features for you to exchange ideas and collaborate on songs.
  • Accessibility and User Interface: The platform is known for its uncluttered, intuitive interface, making music creation accessible to beginners and professionals alike.

My Experience

Sounds epic? I had to give it an extensive try! Feel free to follow along as I show you exactly how I was able to create music for free with AI using Boomy.

First, you need to sign up.

Then you need to choose the genre for your song. I went with Electronic Dance for my first track.

Then you can further customize the track by choosing a style for the song:

Then, in just 5–15 seconds the AI has already done its work and the song is ready for a listen.

I started listening to it and instantly noticed how good it was compared to the other AI music tools on the market.

Parts of this track sounded like it was made by a real professional. But some parts needed fine-tuning and sounded amateurish.

Luckily, you can easily reshuffle and rearrange parts of the song. You can also delete parts you’re not satisfied with.

The songs are designed so that deleting a part doesn’t break the continuity of the song that bad.

Because I wasn’t 100% happy, I decided to reshuffle parts of the song. I even added some AI-generated sound effects into the mix.

Once again, it only took 5–15 seconds to see the new track (with some existing elements):

This time, the song was really good. But it still had those same issues and artifacts that spoiled the party. If you listened for 10 seconds, you really couldn’t tell what was wrong with the song. But if you listened all the way through, you could easily spot silly mistakes.

As another experiment, I tried to create a lo-fi song with irregular drum beats. That’s when the AI completely lost it. Even though the drum beats are “irregular” there still should be some regularity to it. But this is what the AI seemed to miss entirely, as the drums were all over the place.

Pros

  • Ease of Use: Boomy’s simple design allows you to create music easily with no background in using DAWs or creating songs.
  • Creative Exploration: The platform encourages experimentation with different genres and styles you can choose from a ready-made list.
  • Opportunities for Monetization: Ability to submit your tracks to major streaming platforms.

Cons

  • Limited Genre Diversity: The musical genres offered by Boomy are somewhat limited.
  • Generic Music Quality: The music generated by Boomy may sometimes sound generic compared to human-composed songs.
  • Single Project Limitation: Currently, you have to save and close one song before starting another, which could be a drawback for some.

Pricing

  • Free Plan: Allows creation and editing of songs, with a limit of 25 song saves and 1 album release per month.
  • Creator Plan: Priced at $9.99/month, offering increased song saves and album releases, along with MP3 downloads.
  • Pro Plan: At $29.99/month, this plan includes unlimited song saves, more album releases, and additional download options.

Bottom Line

Boomy is an easy-to-use music creator anybody can start playing with right now.

You don’t need any background in music, DAWs, or anything else. Just sign up, choose a genre and style, and enjoy!

The songs are decent compared to what the other platforms allow to create. But there are still some artifacts and amateurish-sounding parts in the songs that I created. Also, it loses the rhythm from time to time.

To download the songs, you need to be a paid member though.

I’d give it a shot — it’s free to use!

4. BeatOven AI

Beatoven.ai is a simple yet powerful tool in the world of AI music creation.

It’s designed for content creators who need customizable, royalty-free music that aligns with the mood and tone of their content.

Similar to other tools on this list, this one uses AI to generate original and unique beats. Whether for videos, podcasts, or other projects, Beatoven.ai offers an innovative solution to music production challenges.

Let’s see how it performs.

Key Features

  • AI Composition: Beatoven.ai uses AI to generate unique music tracks tailored to specific content needs.
  • Customization Options: Adjust parameters, styles, and musical elements to explore different genres and sounds.
  • User-Focused Platform: The interface is intuitive, facilitating smooth navigation and effortless music generation.

My Experience

Here’s how this tool performed in my hands.

As someone who has created electronic music in the past, I found it fascinating how simple creating beats these days can be.

The whole process with BeatOven AI looks like this:

First, you need to sign up for free.

Then just quickly fill in details about your needs.

And you’re done! Now you can start using AI to generate music.

Choose a new project:

Create the name and give it a duration and tempo.

Choose a genre for your song:

And then give it an emotion.

After waiting for 10–30 seconds, there’s your AI-generated track!

I couldn’t add a sample of my track to this post. But I must say it was a bit of a disappointment. Considering how smoothly the creation process was and how sleek the UI is, the song isn’t even remotely close to what I expected.

Luckily, that’s just one track and there’s an option to create a new emotion and essentially revamp the song.

I did this and I also noticed that in the right-hand corner, there are some alternate tracks to choose from. These are all AI-generated. I chose the best-sounding one and clicked on it to add it to the editor.

This track sounds already better.

But to be real, it still didn’t sound that impressive. If it was a background track on some kind of art installation, I probably wouldn’t have paid attention.

But because it sits right there, I can tell this sounds like something that has been created by someone who has been using a DAW for 30 minutes.

Anyways, if you want to download and use the tracks, you need to subscribe to a paid plan.

Pros

  • Ease of Use: The tool’s user-friendly interface makes it accessible for both seasoned creators and newcomers. Also, the UI looks sleek!
  • Royalty-Free Music: Paid users retain ownership of the music created, allowing its use in monetized videos and other projects without royalties.
  • Tailored Music Creation: The AI-driven compositions are designed to match the mood and tone of the content, enhancing storytelling.
  • Quick Music: Instead of spending hours composing and mastering a track, AI does it in seconds.

Cons

  • Quality Issues: The productions I made with this tool weren’t that impressive. It sounded like music, for sure. But the quality just isn’t there.
  • Repetitive Music: The tracks are repetitive, with the AI struggling to compose unique sequences.
  • Limited Customization: The customization options are too basic, especially in terms of key and time signatures. It’s simple, but perhaps a bit too simple to my liking.
  • Instrumental Only: Beatoven.ai currently generates only instrumental music, without the capability for original lyrics.

Pricing

  • Free Plan: Basic features with limited usage.
  • Pro Plan: Advanced features and expanded content libraries.
  • Enterprise Plan: Custom pricing for professional music production teams or organizations.

Bottom Line

I like how easy and simple BeatOven is. The UI looks awesome and the use is really easy to get a gist of.

But the songs I was able to generate are too basic and sound too beginner to me. I know I could create better beats myself in just 15–30 minutes with a real DAW.

Anyway, because it’s a free tool, why not give it a shot?
