AI Isn’t Coming For Your Job Unless You Choose to Ignore It

AI is Only Going to Replace Human Beings Who Refuse to Use It to Their Advantage

It’s Time To Level Up

The rapid advancements in artificial intelligence have stirred up a lot of fear in many industries and job sectors. There is a widespread belief that AI will soon replace human workers, but the truth is that it all depends on our perspective and willingness to learn and adapt.

AI is here now and is changing how we work and live. However, the jobs that are most at risk of being automated involve repetitive and routine tasks.

On the other hand, jobs that require creativity, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence are less likely to be automated and are the jobs that are most in demand.

It’s not to say that AI isn’t capable of creative work. I think that’s what has caught people so off guard. It is excellent at creative writing and making digital art and music.

However, if you don’t add your distinct creativity to the creative output of an AI, it won’t be nearly as valuable in the marketplace. Supply and demand will eventually impact anything easily accessible and repeatable by anybody.

AI Won’t Create Masterpieces Without You

When something is abundant and easy to acquire or produce, it’s not valuable anymore. That’s going to happen rapidly for the basic stuff that AI can produce from a simple text prompt or voice command.

AI will not necessarily take away people’s jobs, but ignoring its potential for improving processes and skills is a surefire way to fall behind in the current job market.

The issue is not AI but rather our reluctance to adapt and change. AI is not coming for your job unless you choose to ignore it. If you are willing to learn and embrace new skills, you will be in a much better position to secure your job and even thrive in the face of change.

The best way to think about AI is that it will enable humans to simply be better at what they do.

We’ll be able to produce more creative output in a shorter period. We’ll have support when navigating tricky subjects or finding new creative ways to look at things.

No More Marketing?

Something AI does that is quite valuable is automate a lot of busy work. For example, is coming up with a catchy blog title supposed to be what writing is all about? I don’t think it is, and most writers would agree with me.

The juicy headline is based on skills like marketing, psychology and SEO.

Should writers have to know all those disciplines to develop a decent headline so people will give their writing a chance?

Should writers with marketing backgrounds have the best chance at being read versus writers who produce far better quality work?

Would it be better if almost everyone had blog post titles that were on the same level of attractiveness so that we’d all be judged mainly on the quality of our writing instead?

This is where marketing becomes a net negative for me. I understand marketing well, but I don’t think it’s best for society to consume the best-marketed things versus the best-quality things.

If we were willing to be honest with one another, no one would want a marketing advantage. They’d want to win the customer because their product is better than everyone else.

Let Your Humanity Shine

The first step is to understand the role of AI in your industry and the areas in which AI can impact now and in the future.

This requires continuous learning and staying up to date with the latest developments. Additionally, you need to be proactive and take control of your professional development.

Emotional intelligence is one of the most important traits that will be in demand in the future.

Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to understand and manage your own emotions, as well as the emotions of others. It is communicating effectively, building relationships, and solving problems.

AI can automate many tasks but cannot replicate the human ability to understand and connect with others. Future versions of AI will probably acquire something like emotional intelligence or mimic it fairly accurately, but they won’t replace us.

No matter what, no one from the past, present, or future is better at being YOU. You are the world’s foremost expert on being you and second place isn’t even close.

Use this to your advantage. Let AI push you to explore and exploit those unique parts of yourself rather than try to mimic other people’s success like most people seem to be doing these days.

Will AI Ever Be Considered Creative?

Another critical skill that will be in demand is creativity. AI can automate routine tasks but cannot yet replace the ability to think outside the box and generate new ideas.

If you are creative and able to think critically, you will still have a competitive advantage in the job market.

Critical thinking will also be a highly valued skill. AI can automate many tasks but cannot replace the ability to analyze and solve complex problems…yet.

This kind of thinking requires a deep understanding of the subject matter and the ability to think critically and independently.

The ability to analyze and solve complex problems will come with the creation of Artificial General Intelligence(AGI).

AI is here to stay and will continue to change how we work and live.

Resistance is futile.

Seriously.

You’re only screwing yourself by gnashing your teeth and wishing it didn’t exist. Get out there and learn about prompt engineering and other ways to communicate effectively with AIs.

Become A Magician Through Your New AI Skills

It’s pretty damn magical when you find a way to get an AI to do something that would have usually taken you hours to do in seconds.

Whenever I have shown people ChatGPT on a video call, they gasp at the wizardry of it all.

AI is not going to leave you unemployed unless you ignore it.

Why would you want to ignore it?

Do you not want magical powers?

Do you hate fun?

The key to success in the future job market is to be proactive, embrace change, and continuously learn and develop new skills.

This is true whether or not AI is taking jobs.

It’s the future of work in the Information Age.

If you are willing to do this, you will be as in demand in the workforce as ever and thrive in the face of change.

Thank you for reading and responding, as always.

I hope you can “unpucker” just a little bit and relax after reading this post.

If I did my job well, then you’re excited AF to get a hold of any AI you can and start reinventing who you are and who you can be.
