AI is no fad. What the deluded are getting wrong.

There are certain historical tech utterances that reveal one’s (embarrassing) level of delusion.

The famous 1950s quote:

We won’t need more than 5 computers globally.

Then over the last 5 years we have 1000s of analysts discussing alleged ‘Tesla killers’ every second week.

That’s like expecting Apple and Google killers in 2015. I mean it’s not impossible, but there’s no actual killing likely.

And Tesla is just too far ahead. Legacy auto never was going to be efficient at making EVs. And other startups are playing catch up to a cheetah.

And today?

AI is hype. ChatGPT is a fad!

Zero perspective

These analysts, journalists and even industry leaders simply are incapable of any vision of current or future utility or further development whatsoever.

Even as they are now, ChatGPT and generative image and video technology are jaw-droppingly incredible.

A decade ahead of their time.

Imagine in another 3 years time!

LLMs like GPT cracked a 70 year grand challenge of creating usable NLU, natural language understanding. The world changed in June 2018, at least as it hit me. Release of GPT-1. AGI was set in motion that day.

And they are way more than ‘usable’. They are stunningly brilliant at creating text to order.

But beyond content creation, many miss that they are in effect ‘bottled intelligence’.

They are great decision makers and readily morphable over the next few years into (non-sentient) AGI.

Anyone claiming ‘AI is a fad’, is essentially vision-less.

LLMs, with or without visual AI, now enable almost any app you can imagine to be built. Almost nothing is off the table.

LLMs and live image interpretation neural networks like Tesla’s FSD and their android project will transform the world. Guaranteed.

Business will never be the same again. We can maintain as much or as little hands on as we want. But AI will be at least shadow running our businesses much better than us very soon.

FSD driving will save a million lives a year and up GDP by 25–50% via freight cost reductions.

Androids will simply usher in an entirely new age of plenty. GDP up x10 by 2035.

AI hype?

That is the most bonkers thing I’ve ever heard.

It comes from maximal ignorance and lack of vision, perhaps mixed with a few drops of Luddite.
