AI Image How-To — #32
Specific letters in your image! — secrets revealed!

Have you tried creating images with text in them and it just wasn’t working? AI is too stinking smart for our own good (no, seriously) but this is one of the things it still struggles with.
I originally tried creating something similar for the Stop Peter Cottontail event. If you haven’t searched for his eggs, check it out!
Then I decided to revisit this challenge for my May’s Celebratory Scavenger Hunt — a collaboration with several other awesome writers to save Cinco de Mayo — in Star Wars Fashion!
After creating the IOU wall above, I kept thinking I should show you how to make it as well!
The prompt itself is simple, it’s just patiently plugging through generation after generation to get what you want. The more complex the letters/wording, the longer it will take.
One or two letter prompts generate very quickly and easily. Anything more than that and you may as well plan on going through an afternoon for 3 letters — longer for more.
But, oh — what sweet success when you (and AI) nail it!!
For the image above, I used letters “IOU” spray painted on the wall to get the letters and how I wanted them to appear. To further push my preference, I added in the style of graffiti.
I spent a crazy amount of time (stubborn determination) to get this.

This image was quite similar in the prompt set up. I listed letters “BRB” handwritten on a paper napkin to get the letters and how I wanted them to appear. Though most generations were a fancy script that got tossed.
Most generations had three letters…often BBR or BBB. 🤪
When it gave a handwriting I liked with any three letters, I generated images from that. (The image must have the same number of letters as what you want.)

I listed adorable letter “B” with cute animals on a bedroom wall and quickly got some really good images. It’s not as easy to detect the “bedroom wall” or the morning light but I liked it despite the mutant creature at the base. 🤣

I was getting such fun images, I decided to make another B but have this one on a bedroom nightstand.
About half of the images were missing the nightstand but it was still way easier than three letters.

These were the most impressive and fun to create. words SC logo is what created the letters. Wanting something to match my personality, I added vibrant colors and glitter.

Isn’t there an easier way? — you ask.
You can create the background you want, upload the image to an art program — such as Canva, and add the text that way. That is what I did for the image below when under a time crunch for the Stop Peter Cottontail event.
