The images in this article were generated using Midjourney V5.
Midjourney V5 impressed me with the leaps and bounds it made in generating teeth and hands. At least when there was only one subject! Throw in a room full of people and we are right back to struggling for a decent image with distorted faces, many extra fingers (and limbs!), and complete frustration.
As you can see, Santa has a sleighing accident in this image — it just validates that he really is real! 🤣
I can hear you saying that you can create this image easily enough — but how do you make it look so aged?
Is it by adding 1800 to the prompt? Nope.
The key here is sepia tone — a form of print toning. It is a specific chemical process while developing the film that produces the warm colors.

I added with the elves to this prompt. The main variations I noticed was the party grew larger. 🤣 When I initially added at the North Pole and Santa, Midjourney profiled what I was looking for.
As with any photo, someone has to ruin it by blinking — even with AI. Go figure.

Something humorously strange happened while trying to get images of Bigfoot… He often resembled the likeness of the people he was with.
What I mean is, they shared the same beard shape, Bigfoot often had a huge pot-belly, and they shared a bowl cut (aka mushroom cut.)
This was humorous in the beginning.
I stuck with the 1800’s for fun of the clothing and the image looking old as dust.
Initially, I only listed a family standing with Bigfoot. This resulted mostly in a father and a child with Bigfoot. The few images that included a mother — they were distorted or messed up in some way. 😓
Always up for a challenge, I included more people with large family.

Yes, I was having fun with Bigfoot. So is this doll-like toddler!
My brain runs on the serious side, for a while, then the what-if parts kick in. What if Sasquatch (Bigfoot) was playing hide-and-seek with a child?
Yes, he looks a little like a Silver-back Gorilla. Don’t knit-pick. It’s all in fun. 🤪
Actually, when he didn’t have a long, bushy beard or big pot-belly, he did resemble a gorilla in the face and sometimes the arms. Who knew!!

I bet you didn’t know an alien was so wrinkly. Or had so many razor-sharp teeth! But there it is — in an indisputable photo! Another photo with this prompt had the same basic images but the alien was over two stories tall! Wild!
For the prompt, I did specify a tall alien as the initial images were too short for what I was going for.
As always, if you aren’t getting what you want — be specific.

Why did I include both? Because they were cool. I’ve found AI’s versions of things to be wildly comical at times.
It’s interesting that most of the alien pirates had a kraken feel to them.
I tried alien pirate and alien+pirate without much success.
Once I changed the prompt to alien wearing pirate clothes, things got a little better but still not the type of images I had in my head.
Being the determined person I am to figure something out, I added a style for Midjourney to use by adding in the style of Pirates of the Caribbean to the end of the prompt. Then most images were what was expected…for a few generations.
There was the occasional person thrown into the mix.
The more images I generated, skulls appeared instead of alien heads. Some were amusing though! Imagine a skull smiling as broadly as possible for the camera! ❤️🔥

Didn’t make the cut…
Both of these were supposed to be an alien sitting on a horse. I got some really wild images with that prompt! 🤣
I tried adding — — no boots but still could not get a decent alien and a decent horse. Did I give up too soon? Maybe — but I was working on a huge collaborative project!
