Stormy clouds above an object! — secrets revealed!
Surely you’ve seen the cartoons of an angry child with a storm cloud brooding above their head. But, have you wondered how you could create it?
It’s not difficult to work into the prompt and I tested the wording different ways.
Note: Each of these images were created with Midjourney V5.
AI, however, has a little difficulty with this and it took several generations. (I had all kinds of crazy images for the queen bee that I abandoned…some looked like they were consumed by a cloud tornado. LOL We have a simple bee below.)
For the image above, I started the prompt with the girl (3 year old girl), added the clouds and the position where I wanted them (miniature cumulonimbus cloud above her head,) then descriptions of her and her location (angry, playground.)
To get the type of image I was going for, I added the art style I wanted with by Pixar animation, by Disney.

When I began working on the bed prompt, many of the images had marshmallow-like clouds, some looked toasted 🔥, there were marshmallow-like blankets, cloud blankets, then eventually the cloud hovered above the bed.
This one was an adventure!
I reworded this prompt with the main portion being cumulonimbus cloud above a bed.
I was going for something more realistic than cartoon-like. I did this (partly by leaving off Pixar and Disney) by adding 32k.
I also searched for a storm photographer and was drawn to Mike Mezeul II’s work. Striking and awesome!

I don’t see an enraged bee in the image (as listed in the prompt) as much as I do shocked or dismayed. But it took a lot of image generations to get the cloud where I wanted it (rather than in the sky or consuming the bee like some vile mist from a pit,) so I went with this one. And it’s amusing to me.
I based this prompt off of the prompt for the girl. Only the image for the girl was much easier and quicker to generate. Weird, right?
I also began this one with a queen bee. AI did pretty good at creating various queen bees — it just couldn’t get the cloud right.
Wanting a furry honey bee, I tweaked the prompt to include by Pixar fur.

Originally, this prompt was written similar to the girl and the bee. AI refused to cooperate and left the clouds in the sky where it thought they belonged.
I also tried creating a cloud raining on the robot — I just got rain, rain, and more rain. This would take further tweaking.
So I rewrote the prompt similar to the bed (listing the cloud before the robot.)
This one still took quite a few image generations before the adorable image above.
