Mindset vs Age
How should we evaluate and judge others?

I feel that society in general needs to realize that people’s mindset is ultimately more important than their age, especially when evaluating and judging others.
In that sense, truly being a grown-up, means possessing a good, mature, and more altruistic mindset.
While age is definitely an important factor to consider in such situations, it shouldn’t be considered over one’s mindset.
Being Older Doesn’t Necessarily Lead To Making Better Decisions In General
As we all are aware, just because people are of more senior age, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re less easily influenced by human beings’ inherent negative characteristics, or that they automatically make more wise and rational decisions for most choices in their lives.
This applies to various situations and roles in life, from more personal, familial roles, to holding high positions of power and leadership.
In terms of the latter, I think it’s safe to say that there are many people all over the world who believe that their country should be lead by younger, new individuals, instead of the same old faces and/or those from the senior age group.
This is in order to bring about actual, positive changes to their respective countries, instead of remaining in the status quo.
We Need To Prioritize Mindset Over One’s Age
Though it is fair to say that in any society, those who are older do indeed possess more wisdom and experience than those who are younger, I do believe that people’s mindset should be the ultimate factor in evaluating and judging people.
This is given the fact that there are many people in the older age category who have some negative, regressive, and no-longer-relevant mindsets and beliefs, especially when compared to the younger generations in society.
Crucial Questions To Ask When Evaluating People For Certain Positions
Even though some people may have a lot of wisdom and experience, the truly important factor is their mindset and beliefs, when considering the following:
- What are their basic principles?
- What are their priorities in life?
- Are they more altruistic or more self-serving?
- Are they considerate and thoughtful in their ambitions, beliefs, and actions?
- What are things they would be likely to do if they had access to a lot of wealth and/or power?
- How do they choose to utilize their acquired wisdom and experience? For what purposes?
When considering these important questions, I think it’s safe to say that people’s mindset is indeed more important than their age.
In conclusion, society needs to place more importance on one’s mindset and beliefs and be less dismissive of them just because they’re of younger age.
It’s ultimately people’s mindset and beliefs that determine whether or not they’re truly grown-ups, and not so much their age.
