Age — A State of Mind

August’s Second Week Prompt of Lifeline — Growing Old

it’s been said that age is just a state of mind yet we do tend to think differently as we age old is basically just a number, a time when you retire, when you become eligible to receive Social Security, and people tend to consider you to be old by then

if you are limping or using a walker, you are considered old, but there are young people too who limp or use a walker or need a knee replacement, like those in sports

the old don’t get a break as far as the way others look at us, but we still wear jeans and not just polyester we can get all dressed up and light up a room not just with what we’re wearing, but because of our smiles and laughter which comes with all ages

thinking young is for the aged too being around youngsters always helps to refresh our minds and memories giving us also a chance to play games and have fun

age brings wisdom not just arthritis you might still be working and learning new things each day like the young do in school each day we’re no different that way

the young who respect age are the better listeners there are those who help the elderly or view them in a better light as they do for their own parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles

there may be more doctor visits but the young get sick often too and some suffer more than older persons, and we wish they didn’t have to - we feel their suffering

the elderly are more susceptible to infections or viruses but there are many that combat the worst of things and come through it

as we age, we might start to feel old so it’s important to keep learning, loving, and doing new things it’s a time when dreams are possible because we’ve planned and were able to save for the things we want to do once retired

getting out of the corporate atmosphere or places of work where you punch a clock can be compared to finishing our school years and college like a breath of fresh air, it’s a renewal and a celebration of accomplishments

life is never dull whether you’re ten or fifty at ten you have less freedoms and at fifty or older, you have more freedom but less time

aging is a remarkable journey of life experiences some don’t make it to a good old ripe age I find that sad, so celebrating each year of living is a birthday party that gets bigger each year.

George Burns, comedian and actor said, “you can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get old.” He lived to be 100 years old.
