A TO Z PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE
Adventures Across Australia - Action And Autumn
A Photo Essay from my trips in Australia

When JoAnn Ryan tagged me in the challenge, I replied I would love to participate, but I do not have any photos of objects starting with “A”, so I can’t participate.
“Maybe you can check the challenges already submitted and find some inspiration there?” JoAnn suggested
“Hmm, I could do that,” I pondered for a second and went to have a look at the publication.
While going through the submissions, I thought to myself, “Avocado? Ugh… nope, I do not have any photos of avocados… Apples? Yeah, I could take photos of apples, but what should I say about apples? No, that’s not a good idea… Alligators? Nope, we have crocodiles, not alligators… Atlanta? Also not good because I have never been there… I was skiing in Arabba (Italy), so maybe I could write something about that….”
Well, I spent weeks thinking about it, not even realizing that I’m living in Australia… (doesn’t this start with “A”?). I rode tens of thousands of kilometres through Australia (doesn’t this sound like Action and Adventure?). I literally drove Across Australia (from Brisbane to Perth and back), and I have hard drives full of terabytes of photos from Australia. Maybe I could share some photos simply from my Adventures Across Australia… Not to mention that I also love Autumn!
Sometimes, I can really be an idiot and not see the obvious right before my eyes… LOL
Discovering Australian Outback — Adventure with a high dose of adrenaline rush
I fell in love with Australia from the moment I landed in this country. However, it took close to a year and a half before I could travel through the wonderful country (what better heals a broken heart than travels?). After I saw the entire coast from Townsville to Hobart (and more), I decided to explore the Australian Outback. Below are some photos from that trip that I made in March 2008.

This was an unforgettable adventure full of adrenaline rush. Many things went wrong, and when I think about it, I am amazed (and grateful) that I’m still alive. However, I can guarantee you that this trip took my mind off the pain of my broken heart and the struggles of everyday life.
And also, the best way to learn the art of life is by experiencing it to the fullest. I met wonderful people and had unforgettable adventures. One day I’ll share here, on Medium, the whole story.
Across Australia — Another Adventure
When I came back from my trip to Tasmania in the first days of January 2008, I already knew my next trip would be across the country.
It should be, as usual, a solo trip, but in June of that year, I met George. He also rode a motorbike; his family lived in Perth, so he suggested we could go together and visit them. I agreed.
When I think about that trip now, I wonder how I didn’t realise how different George and I were… He tried to stay friendly to me, but actually, he wasn’t happy at all. He was complaining almost all the way, just rushing from one place to another, not giving me time to take photos.
“What do you want to take photos of? Here is nothing!” he would say, and I replied, “Exactly! Here is nothing! Absolutely nothing! No hills, no buildings, no trees! Nothing! Isn’t it fascinating and wonderful!” Well, it wasn’t for him…
This is one of the trips I have the least photos from. I still collected a few hundred, but… Usually, from a 6-week trip, I would have thousands of photos. Anyway, here are some for you to enjoy!

Looking at all the photos brings so many wonderful memories (despite George whinging; I was so amazed by the beauty of the landscape that I didn’t pay much attention to him)… One day I’ll write down all the stories.
Ataraxy on Australian Coast
The golden Australian beaches are famous all over the world, so I don’t think they need much introduction. Here are a few snapshots from my trip to Moore Park, near Bundaberg, QLD.

There is more to Amazing Australia
Australia might be the smallest and driest continent on earth, yet its landscape hides so much diversity and beauty. I can’t show all the photos here, but below are a few more pictures:

Australian Autumn can be colourful too
Though most of the Australian plants are evergreen, and some deciduous trees lose their leaves in summer when water is scarce, in some regions, we also have a few species that show a display of colourful leaves before shedding them for winter. Here are a couple of examples:

I have thousands of photos from my trips across this amazeballs continent, but I can’t share them all here. I’ll continue writing about my adventures, and one day, all the stories will create books full of joy and wonderful photos.
