Adopt These 3 Jewels of Wisdom and Start Living Your Best Life
Feeling unmotivated? This piece could be the pick-me-up you need!

In this piece, we will think about how we can change our situation for the better. The desire we feel for an improved life will not go away unless we address it and take our lives head-on.
Instead of pursuing happiness, embody it.
The declaration of independence of the United States of America mentions the pursuit of happiness, but true happiness comes from within. It is up to us to make our own luck and find happiness in the smallest things.
If we want large sums of money or millions of followers on our social media accounts, our happiness comes from something outside of our control. Instead, find your happiness within your own emotions.
Within your own soul, an excellent lyric from the song Imagination in the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory says, “If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it.” This quote may sound like it’s oversimplifying the issue, but really if we are feeling unhappy it is probably something that should be addressed internally before we address it externally.
It could be that we need professional help, but in addition to those resources we must accept that to feel truly happy we need to feel it first and then apply it to our surroundings. For example, looking on the bright side instead of pointing out the negatives.
The only time we should point out a negative is if we are going to immediately follow it with a way to improve the situation. If we have found that something is bad in some way and we show it to other people, we are being part of the problem instead of being part of the solution. Instead, why not point out something positive that only a few people notice, or offer a practical solution to something that troubles most people.
Instead of doing things that make you feel good, do things that make you feel good about yourself.
For example, playing video games may make you feel good in the moment, but they likely will not make you feel good about yourself in the long term. On the other hand, working out in the gym is a great way to feel good about yourself.
Exercising in the gym may not be as fun at the moment as playing your favorite video game, but it will reward you in the future. Activities that make people feel good often have addictive qualities.
What we crave in the moment, such as a slice of cake, will leave us feeling less satisfied overall compared with something that we desire in our lifestyle like eating more vegetables.

This piece of advice may be most helpful when transitioning from a mindset of gluttony to a mindset of productivity.
If we focus on doing things that make us feel good we will feel more inclined to indulge in unhealthy foods, drugs, gambling, and other vices. Whereas if we focus on doing things that make us feel good about ourselves, we will gravitate towards going to bed on a regular schedule, cleaning our house, and working on projects that will improve our situation.
Self-improvement is one of the most difficult undertakings we can go through, but it is certainly easier than trying to improve other people. Trying to improve the people around us is even more difficult when they do not ask for our help. It is commonly considered rude.
Instead of focusing on cutting people out of our lives, we should first focus on adding new people to our lives. When we add new people to our lives, why not look for them in places we feel we need self-improvement?
If you want to eat healthier, try making friends at a local farmer’s market. If you want to understand programming, try making friends on an online forum or a local meetup about computer programming.
Realize you are the only thing stopping you from living the life you want.
It can be difficult to accept this, it may even be wrong, but a good outlook for goal setting is to imagine if everything that you are living with right now is your responsibility. It is not, but let us pretend for a minute that it is.
It is not your obligation to fix people or the things around you, it is your obligation to decide if you will spend time with the people and the things around you.
Instead of working with your girlfriend or boyfriend, it may be best to start seeing other people. Instead of waiting for a promotion that may never happen, we may be best off looking for other career paths. Instead of blaming the people around us, or our environment, we can just change it.
The only time we should feel satisfied in life is when we are truly satisfied and not pressured by others to just feel satisfied.
Let us consider the hypothetical situation of a business owner who is not successful yet. They should look to themselves and see what lies under their own control first before they look at their employees or the other people who could have a negative influence on their business.
Oftentimes, instead of wondering “How can I get my employees to work harder?” a business owner could simply come to work as a manager more often. It is a very simple concept that when the owner is on the premises, employees will naturally perform better.
Not only are they working under the guidance of the master of the business, but they also feel more guilty for stealing company time when they know that company time is actually just money their boss uses to feed their own family.
No matter how hard you work you will not solve everybody’s problems. Look at your own problems, come up with an action plan, then execute.
Conclusion
In conclusion, if you want to improve yourself take action.
Everyone finds it very easy to sit around and wish for a different life, a better life. The rare few will take massive action to change their current situation.
Your situation may change without you taking action, but if you want to increase the likelihood that it will change for the better you should put in the effort.
Do not beat yourself up though. If you need a break, take one. If you feel stressed or worn down, take a break and have a snack.
Once you feel like yourself again, get back on the horse. We all fall down in life, the part that matters is whether you choose to get back up.
