I
My dog died at night I found him in the morning On the welcome rug.

That dog grew with me. So I became a dead dog Much more than a teen.

We were on the grass Fighting for the last french fries The first time we kissed.

Every night I saw The death count of the drug war On a tv show.

Cultural wasteland A place to lose dreams and hopes That was our high school.

“My parents are late” She said. We were in her room. Then I touched her thighs.

I opened the door There was the debt collector Looking for my dad.

To pay all his debts My father sold his business And became jobless.

I heard my parents Argue about who will pay The family bills.
X
I cheated on her And then she cheated on me Or did she begin?

We skip school to feel The low beating of our hearts In the silent park.
