Admit it, Brave browser: “surf-to-earn” is pure deception
Brave is a free browser that blocks advertisements and trackers; and “pays you” with a cryptocurrency (BAT) for watching ads. Users can contribute the BATs to websites/content creators, or download them to their wallets. Sounds nice, right? Here are the problems:
- Brave supports only two wallets, quite criticized for their flaws.
- It just added its own wallet, but, unbelievably, it cannot directly save the BATs you collect on Brave itself!!!
- Brave pays BATs in cents, and BATs from separate browsers cannot be gathered, making it impossible to reach the amounts needed for withdrawal even after years of fidelity.
- As a content creator, I’ve also found it impossible to actually retrieve BATs.
- The price of the BAT is ridiculously low and very correlated to bitcoin.
Clearly, Brave’s developers just don’t want you to really gain anything from surfing the web.
