Across The Dark Sea

A poem written upon waking up today

Across the dark sea A storm comes closer Bringing effortlessly with it A calmness that knows no fear Faint shadows on a meadow of moonlight Cast by waves of the evermoving waters Leaving no trace of sorrow No doubt of an abandonment foretold Swallowed down in the bottomless abyss

I wrote this poem in my dream journal this morning, right after I woke up. I was dreaming of a dark sea illuminated by the moonlight, similar to the picture above.

The poem flowed out of me without thinking about it. Did I draft it in my mind while still asleep? Who knows…

It was originally written in Greek, but I did my best to translate it as accurately as possible.

Have you ever written a poem or a story right after you woke up?
