Achieve Success Faster By Doing This Thing That Most People Don’t Do

Take advantage of this golden chance to stand out from others fast

Recently, I listened to the My First Million podcast by Sam Parr and Shaan Puri on YouTube. It’s a very very good podcast if you’re into entrepreneurship. I’ll link the video at the end of this post. They talk about what you’re going to read now in the first 10 minutes. Listen to it to understand better after reading this.

In the podcast, Shaan told he watched a TikTok video of a guy teaching people how to cook the perfect egg.

Shaan said that the video makes cooking the egg looks so simple enough. But he said if he tried to cook, the result will never be the same as the one he saw in the video. He said that he needed a lot of tries to be able to get that perfect egg. Even though the guy in the video showed the exact formula step by step. Ingredients, pan’s heat and how to jiggle the egg, it’s all in there.

Then, he told Sam that if he watches eggs videos for the next 6 months without actually cooking, he would feel “Dude, I know everything about cooking eggs.” Again, he told Sam that if he tried to cook, he would make a horrible mess.

Shaan relates his story to a problem you might have right now. He told that a lot of people listen to podcasts and read Twitter threads every day without taking any action.

The thing you must do now is put your knowledge to use. Crack the eggs and cook them yourself. Be more of a doer, not a consumer.

You feel you know a lot of things about cooking eggs after watching a lot of videos and reading blogs. But actually, you don’t know shit or you only know very little. It’s just an illusion.

Stop consuming hundreds of contents, tips or advice first before getting your hands dirty. It won’t test your skill and you will never grow.

Stop reading thousands of Twitter threads about “10 Lessons I Learned Before 30” or “5 Mistakes I Wish I Knew Earlier In Business” if you’re going to forget about it tomorrow and not going to take any action from it.

You don’t have to read 10 books and watch hundreds of Youtube videos about writing, habit-forming, content marketing, how to talk to women, Facebook Ads, fitness, leadership or anything to improve.

You should read one or two, watch a few and immediately practice what you’ve learned from those books and videos. Get your work out there and get feedback from people. You can rapidly improve faster than anyone else this way.

Whenever you feel like you’re not improving anymore or not getting the result you want after a lot of trial and error, that is when you should top up new knowledge from books, blogs or videos.

Learn from my experience and you’ll get better quick

I read “The Copywriter’s Handbook” by Robert W. Bly because I don’t know clearly what makes some writings persuasive. I also feel like my writing skill is plateauing. From just that one book, I successfully convince a creative director to hire me as a junior copywriter just by email. How? By putting my knowledge to use and knowing when to stop consuming.

Surprisingly, I didn’t even finish the book. I only read the first 4 chapters out of 15 total chapters. This is the result.

Even though I don’t get the job, his reply shows I’ve convinced him and proves I can write.

P.S. That book is extremely good.

What you do is what matters, not what you think or feel you can do.

That’s why there are so many people in the comments saying they would score that goal easily or something like that. Not until they are actually in a similar situation. They are consumers but never doers.

Cooking an egg is different from thinking or feeling you can cook an egg.

This post is inspired by this video

Sincerely,

Danish Fikri
