Accumulate Rejection Slips

You only need one yes to win.

Let’s play a game.

Your objective: get one yes.

There’s only one rule: the only way to get to your yes is to gather as many nos as you can.

The more nos you get, the closer you get to your yes. Similarly, the faster you gather your nos, the faster you get your yes.

I don’t know how many nos will get you to your particular yes (or for me to get to mine). Because for this game, I have no access to the background algorithm.

But that’s what makes this so much fun.

So let's play.

Instead of running away from the nos, let's work for them.

Publish your articles. Apply for jobs. Start new projects you think are far beyond your current capabilities.

Rack up on those nos.

Get as many as you can because they get you practice. And tell you what didn’t work. Then unceremoniously push you away from the wrong direction and hopefully towards the right one.

Maybe. Or maybe it’s just towards another no.

Either way, every no gives you something. A hint to help you get closer to your yes. So instead of running away, run towards them and pay attention. They’re ready to impart valuable wisdom to the players brave enough to approach and listen. And what they tell you will help you level up.

Now that you know everything you need to, are you ready for this?

Game on.
