Accept The Little Wins In Life

Be thankful and grateful for every win, victory or prize and cherish that moment

“What is this?" I asked today, after I noticed a prize in somebody’s bag.

“Be quiet,” I was told. "There will be an announcement."

And so I waited. And I wondered what it was all about.

Soon we were told that the prize was from a raffle that we entered a week earlier.

“Wow, I forgot all about entering that," I said.

Then I looked at the nice soft little prize and it was a good thing to win. Plus, it’s generally pretty hard to win a raffle so that is a minor miracle.

I was about to ask a follow-up question about why the raffle did not happen on a Friday which is the usual day, or if it was done at the usual place or not, or why this time things were different.

But then I caught myself.

I reminded my brain that it’s important to just accept the win. That’s it.

Especially when it comes to random luck or chance, you better just appreciate it. Thank the heavens above that the stars aligned for you, and don’t bring out your telescope to make sure they did.

You may not get a lot of wins or victories in life. That’s for sure. And there is nothing wrong with that.

But when good things do happen to you or your family, embrace them with a grateful heart and appreciate the good in them. Accept them right away and be thankful.

  • If things go your way, say a little ‘thank you’ under your breath.
  • When something nice happens, give yourself a little smile and enjoy it.
  • If you win a prize, give yourself or somebody else a high-five.
  • When you get the perfect parking spot, cherish that moment.
  • If some extra money comes to you out of the blue, stop for a money and hold onto that point in time.

We may not know everything in the universe that is headed our way, but we can fill our hearts with joy when good things happen. We can appreciate them and not question how they came about.

This is my advice for the week. Watch out for good things that are headed your way and cherish every single one of them.
