Abstract

The author describes a series of inconveniences in their daily life, from the nuisance of slow-draining showers and sinks that have persisted for years, to a broken crystal jar that poses a potential health risk due to microcrystals. The narrative includes a close call with an electrical fault caused by a malfunctioning toaster, which was averted by a fortuitously short cable. The search for misplaced keys and the simple joy of clean, running water are also mentioned. The author finds solace in the act of washing hands in clear water, a practice they've maintained by saving vegetable-cleaning water. The text is punctuated with the author's photography of everyday scenes, suggesting an appreciation for the mundane and a keen eye for detail.

Opinions

  • The author expresses frustration with long-standing plumbing issues that have not been resolved despite attempts to clear the drains.
  • There is a concern for health and safety, as evidenced by the author's switch from using citric skins that could leave microcrystals on dishes to a safer alternative of vinegar and salt.
  • The author acknowledges a moment of luck when a faulty toaster caused a power outage, but the short cable prevented an electric shock.
  • A sense of contemplation is conveyed through the author's musings on the beauty of running water and the act of handwashing, which seems to be a rare and cherished experience for them.
  • The inclusion of personal photography suggests the author values capturing and perhaps reflecting on everyday moments, finding significance in the ordinary.

A noisy night, terrible night. Tinnitus. Warm in bed. My digestive system works, at least my bowel movement. I eat greens, every day a salad.

Shower and sink drains are stuck for years on and on, annoying, water takes hours to drain and sink walls get quite dirty. I have attempted to clear them.

A saucepan, a big saucepan, water, citrics’ skin into water, for washing-up, a broken crystal jar, it is scaring of thinking microcrystals on dishes, cutlery, would go to digestive system, tearing esophagus, stomach, intestines, etc. Moving on to vinegar and salt instead, vanishing microcrystals.

Evening time: Toaster, faulty, the electricity went off, thanks goodness, just was unshocked due to cable being too short to reach my target in the darkness, the darkness coming into room omitting street lights and traffic lights.

Keys, where are the keys?

Walking, stopping, I take photos. A traffic light was taking more than a while to leave walkers following foot paths. Water, running water along my hands, running water, my hands underneath, clear water, so long ago, since I keep cleaning vegetables water in a pot to wash my hands. A neat public ladie’s.
