Summary

Former President Barack Obama has critically described current President Donald Trump's handling of the global crisis as an "absolute chaotic disaster," urging support for Joe Biden in the upcoming election.

Abstract

In a leaked phone call to former White House staffers, Barack Obama has sharply criticized Donald Trump's leadership during the global health crisis, labeling it as inadequate and chaotic. Obama's comments come against a backdrop of the United States leading in the number of infections and deaths, surpassing even the death toll of the Vietnam War, a conflict from which Trump received draft deferments. The article highlights Trump's tendency to shift blame, take credit for successes, change subjects, and lie when faced with challenges, suggesting that his actions are driven by a desire for attention and personal gain rather than the nation's well-being. Obama has called for unity and support for Joe Biden, contrasting with Trump's divisive tactics that have fostered an environment of opposition and conflict among American citizens.

Opinions

  • Obama views Trump's crisis management as ineffective and solely focused on self-promotion and maintaining attention.
  • Trump is seen as evading responsibility for the handling of the crisis, instead blaming others such as China and the previous administration.
  • The author suggests that Trump's self-assigned "wartime president" title is undeserved, given his avoidance of military service during the Vietnam War.
  • The article portrays Trump as fostering division and conflict within the country, praising armed militias and labeling the media as "the enemy of the people."

Obama on Trump: Absolute Chaotic Disaster

And that was him being polite…

In the world’s gaze (PD by The White House)

You can always tell when Don Trump is out of his depth nowadays. He puts on his grim, determined, square-jawed face like the stern war leader he has labelled himself, but inside he doesn’t have the faintest idea of what to do next.

Watch him. He’ll do one (or all) of four things:

  • Change the subject
  • Blame someone else for any failure
  • Take credit for any success
  • Lie

That’s it. That’s Don Trump at the full stretch of his crisis leadership. It’s worked so far; he’s in a great job, he’s got powerful men fawning over him, beautiful women stroking his ego, more money than he knows what to do with, and all the hamburgers and Coke he can guzzle.

The country can go to hell. Hell, the world can follow it. So long as Don Trump is the centre of attention, everything else takes second place.

“Get behind Biden,” Obama tells insiders

In a half-hour phone call to members of the Obama Alumni Association — those who served President Obama in the White House and across his government— Barack Obama urged his listeners to support former Vice President Joe Biden in the upcoming election, emphasising that strong national leadership is required during a global crisis, and Don Trump’s leadership has been “an absolute chaotic disaster”.

The facts, in which America leads the world by long margins in both number infected and deaths — 1 333 000 and 80 000 respectively — speak for themselves.

That’s more American deaths than in the whole sixteen year long Vietnam War — which Don Trump avoided through a spurious medical unfitness — and possibly the reason why he considers himself a “wartime president”.

Yes, of course it’s not his fault. He blames China for starting the thing off, Obama for not being ready for it — “And what exactly did you do during the three years since taking office, Mister Wartime President?” — and the Democrats for making it into a big deal.

He rates his performance as “10 out of 10” and claims in direct response to Obama’s criticisms that he has saved American lives. Two thousand American lives lost every day and — like the Vietnam War in the Sixties — no end in sight, and he’s a lifesaver. Right. Top marks.

“Selfish, tribal, divided.” Obama calls it as it is

The reason I call Don Trump’s nation America rather than the United States is because it is has ceased to give even the appearance of unity. Trump’s preferred tactic is to whip up division for the purposes of entertainment, and that has played out extremely well in terms of getting media coverage.

Enemy of the State (CC by Anthony Crider)

It is hard to imagine what nation-building purpose is being served when he praises armed militias for opposing state governments. These fake soldiers force their way into state legislatures and Trump calls them “very good people”. Right.

Under Trump, America is being divided into opposing teams in every conceivable way. Americans are being encouraged to view their fellow citizens as the enemy, and to take up arms against them. The media, despite the constitutional freedom of speech constantly upheld by the Supreme Court, is labelled “the enemy of the people”. Again, because they persist in using facts to demonstrate Trump’s unfitness to serve.

In a land where common people dress up as if they were in some sort of zombie apocalypse and believe in their hearts that they stand for truth and sanity, it is hard to take their regime leader seriously.

Instead of peace, prosperity, security, and all the things on which America was founded, we have death walking the streets, mass graves, fear and hatred.

Welcome to Don Trump’s America.
