About the Magical World of Synchronicities

An account of actual events.

Sometimes, I have felt the workings of a divine consciousness are behind how events, people, and help have materialized in my life, miraculously and without my direct intervention.

So, this is the story about how following my heart triggered a golden thread of synchronistic events, leading me to my destiny at the appointed time.

It was March 2006. My visa to migrate to Australia had just been approved.

I was excited and looked forward to the vast horizon of opportunities opening before me in a new land that, despite being thousands of miles away from my country of origin, I’d very soon call home.

Finally, I could plan bookings and set the take-off day to arrive in Sydney in January 2007.

No one knew about my plans to leave my country of origin besides my immediate family. Therefore, telling the news raised a few eyebrows.

Everyone thought I was either crazy or too brave to go on such an adventure to a faraway land on my own without having ever been there or knowing a single soul.

Little did I know a few pleasant surprises were coming my way.

A myriad of synchronicities started appearing like I was watching a performance orchestrated by ‘Divine Mind.’

My best friend Fatima had a friend –Erika — who had moved to Sydney two years prior and introduced me to her for any help or questions I may have.

My manager’s superior –Mr. Ponce –offered to put a good word for me with his friend –Jafeth — who also lived in Sydney, and Jafeth’s wife –Narayana — picked me up at the airport upon my arrival in Sydney.

It turned out that not only Jafeth and Erika knew each other, but also that Jafeth was Erika’s boss. Unbeknownst to me, Jafeth and Erika planned a surprise meeting where Narayana picked me up at the airport, dropping me first at the hotel to leave all the luggage and then taking me to Erika’s place. Erika then kindly took me out for lunch and shopping for all the necessities upon arrival.

Luis, a cousin of mine, also had a friend in Sydney who took me to buy all the furniture and white line I needed to set up my first home in Sydney.

A work colleague introduced me to one of his friends in Sydney –Maria — who ‘coincidentally’ was one of Erika’s best friends, and both welcomed and helped me in many ways during the first few weeks of my arrival in Sydney.

Suddenly, from not knowing a single soul in Australia, a whole network of helpers materialized out of thin air.

Nonetheless, all those synchronicities paled compared to a final twist of that otherworldly sequence of events…

Sometime in 2004, I had a reading with a ‘Medium,’ who not only predicted my move overseas but also said someone named ‘Coco’ was going to help me to get settled.

When I met Narayana, she said ‘Coco’ had talked highly and fondly about me, so both Jafeth and her were eager to help someone who Jafeth’s best friend so loved.

As I learned about Jafeth through Mr. Ponce, I assumed ‘Coco’ was a nickname for Mr. Ponce. Hence, I never asked any questions. Moreover, I also associated Mr. Ponce with ‘Coco’ because of what the ‘Medium’ had said of a person named ‘Coco’ helping me get settled overseas.

After years of friendship, one day, while catching up with Erika after a long time, I was taken aback by an unexpected discovery.

Incidentally, guess who was in Sydney recently? Erika says excitedly.

Who? I replied with genuine curiosity.

‘Coco’ was in Sydney with his family two weeks ago. Jafeth, Narayana, and I went out to dinner with them, Erika says happily.

Who is Coco? I said, completely having forgotten that’s how, once upon a time, I thought Jafeth called Mr. Ponce.

Coco is Jafeth’s best friend…remember, the guy who told Jafeth and Narayana about you…Erika said with a matter-of-fact tone.

Ah! You mean Mr. Ponce, don’t you? I replied with surety.

Mr. Ponce? Who is Mr. Ponce? Erika asked in surprise.

Mr. Ponce was the VP of the division I used to work for before coming to Australia, and he was the one who told me about Jafeth and introduced me to him; I replied with absolute certainty.

Erika frowned and looked at me in disbelief.

Mmm, I don’t think we are talking about the same person because Coco’s given name is Trebor Toscani, Erika replied with certainty.

What? Well, I have no idea who Trebor Toscani is, I replied, totally baffled by the news.

Erika insisted I was probably mistaken or confused.

Today, I still have no idea what took place there…

Did Trebor Toscani have a connection with Mr. Ponce?

And if he did, why would he lie about knowing me directly that he even went out of his way to give such extravagant praise about me?

Well, I may never know.

The only thing I know for sure is, as Paulo Coelho beautifully said,

When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.
