About Me — Samreena Ashraf
Write. Because it matters.
As updated on Aug 18, 2023.

Hey, there!
I’m Samreena, as it says in the title.
I’m from South Asia, and here’s a bit about me.
This has always been my dream: to write.
I’m from the age in the middle of writing on paper and blogging on the internet. I’ve done both.
I’m from a time when blogging on WordPress was ‘cool’ and ‘aesthetic.’
And I’ve spent a long time blogging there in my high school days.
A Political Science graduate, I’ve worked as a marketing and administrative professional previously. And I’m looking for a career change to journalism.
Currently, I freelance in my free time.
I’d be lying if I said I have just started writing. I have been writing for as long as I can remember.
As a middle school student, I composed poetry for school assignments. My teachers liked it, even though I now think those writings were not as good.
But they were also my first pieces of writing.
My friends loved it, and so did my family.
That Samreena wrote about the mountains, life, and philosophy.
That’s when my writing journey began. And I’m incredibly thankful for it.
We all start from scratch. It is our journey that makes us different.
I believe my journey has just begun.
So, what do I write about? My writings are about personal experiences, professional experiences, anecdotes, learnings, and anything relating to life.
I’m also a published author of a poetry chapbook titled Blue Ashes. It’s got some love from the readers. And I cannot thank you all enough for it.
When it comes to gratitude, I have a list of more things than I can count. I’d like to mention some of those things.
I’m grateful for the unending support from every person who has invested their time in reading my pieces. Each one who has come across my profile, taken the time to read my writings, interacted with it, and given feedback, I’m thankful to you all.
Your one clap or view pushes me to continue writing. It makes me feel like someone out there is reading my pieces, and it’s more than an incentive for me to keep going.
So, to all the people who have loved Blue Ashes, those who have visited my page on Medium, and those who silently like reading my written works, I thank you.
I love to cook and read, and I aspire to travel, apart from writing.
I’m not someone who has traveled to more than 30 countries or someone who reads more than 50 books a year. I’ve barely been to one country apart from the country I live in and the one I am from.
I’m a simple person living a simple life.
I hope you stay tuned to my content, and I hope you like it.
Oh, and I’m an INFJ.
