About Me — Raza Javed
My story — For You

As this is my first article on any platform, so it sounds a better idea to write about myself. Normally, I consider writing a challenging task because my skills are not so good, and after reading some articles on Medium, I started doubting my skills even more. But today finally, I gathered some motivation to write my first article here.
I was born in a middle class family in Rawalpindi Pakistan, a neighboring city to the capital. I did my schooling in the same city, and till my tenth grade I was among top three position holders of my class.
I was position holder not because I was hardworking, but because my elder sister was hardworking, as she used to teach me at home.
My other family members started believing in me when I got distinction in my secondary school exams. This is because in early stages, normally every student is a topper. After the school, time had come to select the college as well as the subjects. I always wanted to study computer science, but what happened is that happens with any other student in my country. I took admission in Pre-engineering, not in computer science by acting upon the advice of one of the friends of my elder brother. But two years passed, and pre-engineering also just passed, no distinction, no position because my sister had gotten married.
Actually when she got married I was very happy, as there would be no one to tell me to sit and study, but that happiness ended as soon as my exams came.
After my college, I had to select the university and again the subjects, but this time I had been given freedom to choose my field. But that was of no use actually, because after doing pre-engineering in my college, the only thing that made sense was to choose engineering. So I did.
I did Electronics Engineering from one of the good universities of my country. But I didn’t realize that the big decision was about to come. My eldest brother always wanted me to go abroad for higher education, and my another brother wanted me to stay in my home country and do CSS (Central Superior Services).
CSS is the most difficult exam of my country. As it requires extremely hard work, dedication, general knowledge, comprehensive knowledge of current affairs etc.
I used to attend a Long lecture of my brother telling me the benefits of CSS every week, and then the next morning, the lecture from the other brother telling me the benefits of studying abroad.
But the interesting fact was that, none of my brothers had done CSS or studied abroad.
Despite of being inclined towards the idea of going abroad, I took admission in CSS because my parents also didn’t want me to go abroad. But my brother was right, I started seeing the benefits of doing CSS soon after I took admission. For example.
- New car to go to academy
- Increased pocket money
- No household tasks from anyone, as they didn’t want to disturb me
- And many more
I was facing difficulties because the subjects were completely new to me, but I continued. We had to make our first assignment, I worked very hard on that and submitted it. I was expecting good grades in that just like I used to get in my previous degrees, but I got 50% in that first assignment. On that day, started seeing my car going from my hands. So I thought now is the time to apply for admission in universities abroad. I applied in different universities in Germany, and finally got an offer letter from one university. No one from my family actually helped me in the admission process because they were not happy with my decision to withdraw from CSS. But when I got admission and started the visa process, things became normal. Finally, the day came, when I had to leave my home country for the first time in my life. I had never lived without my family, so it was difficult to imagine life not in a different city but in a different country.
I was sad but excited at the same time. Right after landing in Germany, I started missing my family. But it was my own decision so I had to stick to it. But things had gone better with the passage of time, and by the end of 2018 I completed my Masters in Electronics Engineering, and started my job as an IT Engineer in a well reputed firm.
I still remember my first religious festival in Germany because I had to go to university on that day, and on top of this it was an exam…. :( :(
But now time has passed, and I have been living in Germany for almost seven years, I really like and enjoy the work I do. But some of the things I learned are:
- If you want to achieve something you never had, then you have to do something you never did
- Think thousand times before choosing your career, but once you chose it, then stick to it and do it wholeheartedly.
- Success does not come alone, if it brings independence and freedom, it also brings responsibility and challenges
- If you want to enjoy the things you never enjoyed, then be ready to face challenges you never faced
With that said, we reached to the end of the article, hope you will like it. As already mentioned, this is my first article so there is a high probability that you will find multiple mistakes in that, if so, then please let me know in your valuable comments, I hope that I will learn a lot in this helping community.
Any suggestions or opinions would be highly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your time….
See you in the next one.
