About Me — Rachele Alvarado
An Italian girl in love with storytelling, innovation, and butter

Hello everyone! I’m Rachele and I am 24 years old!
Where I come from?
I was born and raised in a small seaside town in Liguria, Italy. My parents — funny story — met 35 years ago at the Oktoberfest. My father was born in Mexico and grew up in California. My mother was born in a small town in northern Italy and then went to live in London in her 20s. I have a brother who is 9 years older than me, he’s a chef on sailboats, and constantly travels around the world.

About me?
I’ve been living by myself in Milan since I was 18 years old. I came here to attend a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communication. I graduated with a thesis on the evolution of camp culture. I love John Waters.
In the meantime, in order to sustain me, I’ve always worked as a waitress and bartender. Throughout my job, I got the opportunity to get to know many wonderful and crazy folks. I’m pretty extroverted, and meeting new people is one of my favorite things to do, it energizes me!
I love traveling, especially alone. Among the most memorable trips, there are definitely Portugal, Israel and Palestine where I worked a month as a volunteer, and Canada where a bear woke me up while I was camping.

I finished my studies a few months ago, but due to the recent pandemic, I only work part-time from home for a creative agency in Milan. I love dealing with content strategy, copywriting, and promotion.
Since I only work half-day I always embark on different side hustles/projects, I love to test myself in every field.
I’m rediscovering the joy of writing what I want through Medium. I couldn’t be more excited about all this creative freedom. Medium for me is also a great challenge for improving my broken English.
Languages have always fascinated me, other than Italian I know English, French and Spanish quite well, a little Portuguese and I’m pressing my boyfriend to teach me Albanian, his native language.
I try to live my life with curiosity, and fascination about every little thing. I love to read, and I read a bit of everything, but the genres that are most commonly found on my Kindle are biographies (especially of women), life novels, and books of personal/economic growth.
The self-improvement branch came into my life as a teenager, looking for the best study method, and it went from there. This passion is certainly reflected in my Medium articles. I do my best to write about topics that resonate with my perspective on things.
My dream in life is to help as many people as possible in a practical way. To make people around me feel better, I want to innovate.
I don’t like to take myself too seriously. My articles often have an informal and playful tone. I write how I would talk to a dear friend of mine.
Humor is like butter to me: it’s always a great addition!
I hope this article was useful to get to know me better, thanks for reading through it!
