About Me — Kiran Yasmin
My life is unpredictable.
At the age of 5, I was thrown out of the house by my own father. The reason was simple: he didn’t want a girl. He loved my brother a lot and used to ignore and torture me in one way or the other. My mother supported me and went against the father till my marriage.
Unfortunately, things didn’t change for me. My husband proved to be an abuser. Like my dad, he tortured me mentally and made my life miserable. After giving birth to my first child, I came to know that my hubby was having an affair. This made me a little angry, and I decided to start my freelancing career.
Freelance Writing Wasn’t Easy
As a non-native speaker, it took me many years to improve my writing skills. I could write in poor English, and this was not something my clients loved and paid me for.
I remember the time when I had to spend five to seven hours writing 200 to 300 words. This was not giving me good results, and I was too tired and upset. I didn’t know what to do until a friend of mine came forward to help me.
They taught me the basics of English writing and guided me in the right direction. There is no support from my father, brother, and husband because they are three of the worst men of my life. I am sorry if you find my words bad but it is true.
With time, I learned how to write academic papers and content. I began accepting jobs from private clients. I created my profiles on Fiverr, Freelancer, and Upwork, but it wasn’t possible for me to spend a lot of time bidding on different projects.
I Finally Became a Good Writer
My career changed when I found a client from Turkey. They were ready to pay me $30 per article, and it was deemed to be a nice opportunity for me. I wrote them three articles a week and was paid $90. This could not feed my children well, but it at least motivated me to work hard.
Eventually, I received a job offer from an academic writing company and was hired to write academic papers and to tutor their students. Together, these two jobs gave me $2000 a month. It was a good income, and I was able to educate and feed my kids.
What made me feel bad was that the husband refused to support me financially. He didn’t even care about our kids. He had become selfish; so, I decided to maintain a distance from him.
How’s My Situation Now?
At this point in life, I am earning $3000 to $5000 per month. I am trying to be a good single mother. To be honest, it is not easy for a woman to raise her kids in the absence of her husband. I strongly believe that men are too important in the lives of women. I call myself a strong woman, but the emotional support I was expecting from my father, brother, and husband has never been given.
Life is not a bed of roses.
We all have to struggle. Some people struggle in their personal life, while others fight for a well-paying job. My life is unpredictable in a way that I don’t know what is going to happen when my kids will grow up. They will have their own families. Will I spend the rest of my life in a care home? This question often comes to my mind, and there’s nobody to answer it.
