About Me — Erik Burger

Poly-passionate. Coder, writer, technical lead, coach. Also into mindset, fitness, productivity, finance and personal development.

That’s what my 160-character bio says. I think it’s the shortest way I’ve ever introduced myself. And as such, it falls horribly short of doing a proper job.

Not that I think I do much better, really. Or more proper. But that’s just me.

In case you’re just here for the reads, here’s a list of my favorite stories!

Me. Photo by my wife.

Hi! I’m Erik, and I have pretty terrible self-confidence (as should be apparent from the look on my face in the photo above). And I’m a perfectionist, which is about the worse combination you can find, IMHO. But I’m happily working on it and I’ve found I’m able to live with myself almost all the time, now.

I’m a poly-passionate. Which means, in a nutshell, that I love lots of things!

First and foremost, I love my family. My wife and two kids are the most important thing in the world to me, bar none. In a world where prioritising is key, they’re my number 1 priority.

I love coding, or software development. Being able to put up my mind against a difficult problem and come out on top is amazing. I’m a freelancer so I get to see a lot of different environments and situations, and all of them have different problems to solve.

I love coaching. Really, any coaching will do. I am often asked what kind of coach I am. That’s a really difficult question for me to answer. The best I have come up with is “anything that allows me to help others do what they love.” Whether it is at work as a team or Agile coach or in their personal life where I’ve coached relationships, financing, goal setting, you name it.

Since august 2020 I’m a pretty avid gym-goer. I work out 3–5x a week at my local CrossFit gym. My favorite workouts are gymnastics and working with weights. I also do bouldering, which is low-altitude rock climbing.

With my interest in fitness comes an interest in nutrition and diet. But most of that I leave in the very capable hands of my wife. She’s a nutrition and Intermittent Fasting coach, and is absolutely amazing at it! Why would I try to do it myself if I have an actual live-in coach?

Me and my love/wife/coach/everything.

Then there’s writing. Ah, writing. I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. I started writing fantasy-fiction (did I mention I am also a very prolific reader? I love reading!) but today I write about everything that interests me.

All this seems to leave very little time for other stuff, but I always make time to travel, go out for dinner and drinks, read and binge-watch Netflix.
