Right here and now is a good place to start

Let me introduce myself. My name is Edwina and I’m on an interesting ride at the moment. Most people are thinking retirement at my age but when you’re a self-employed graphic designer there is no retirement and right now, I’m experiencing one of the most exciting times of my life.

Now, I’ve had my share of exciting moments. Being accepted into Parsons fashion design program. I was 17. What a thrill! Discovering fashion illustration at Ray Vogue College of Art. What a lifesaver! Getting the advertising art directors’ position at Marshall Field’s. Out of my way, suckers! Picking up and moving to Atlanta. Gotta go for it! Snagging the graphic designers’ position at the Alliance Theater. This is FUN! Meeting the man I’d been waiting my whole life for and knowing after our second date that I would marry him. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Halleeeee-lujaaaah!

But my baby, WINONA, INC. is the pinnacle. The ultimate. She’s my masterpiece, representing over thirty years of creative sweat. She’s been online since 2013 and now here we are ten years later. She’s finally in development with WARNER BROS. DISCOVERY as an animated series!

The official pitch package has been completed, we have a super-hot celebrity lined up to voice the lead character (I wish I could tell you who but it hasn’t been announced yet) and with the writer and actor strikes over, WINONA, INC. is currently in pitch mode to be presented to big studios and networks as the coolest, hippest new Animated Series for adults.

That’s where I am right now. Today. I’m in the midst of my dream coming true.

Back on the ranch, I’m just about finished with hanging the Christmas decorations. Cranking up the holiday tunes, I’ll do my thing and start baking next week. I send bread and cookies and candy to family and friends all over and the hubs is already talking about it. The zucchini bread is his fave.

I was in a slump about a week ago — I wrote about it here if you want to know the deal — but decorating the house brought me out of it. Thank Goodness it doesn’t take much these days for me to shake a funky mood.

And then my best friend and I are hosting a holiday yard sale on the 16th. We’ve done it several years now and the weather here in Atlanta always cooperates. We have a blast just hanging out all day meeting people, drinking spiked coffee, making some sales and laughing at everything like we always do.

I’ll have my jigsaw puzzles and note cards for sale, fashion illustration prints, custom t-shirts, links to my two e-books and the final eight copies of WINONA, INC. the coffee-table book.
