About Me — Divya Meda
Give it your best shot and take peace in knowing ‘you did all you could do’.
“A sense of accomplishment is why we all do the things we do but it’s how we go about achieving them that differentiates us. I believe in working for the welfare of others without compromising my beliefs. For someone who has always been one with her head in the clouds, I love turning my imagination into something that helps my loved ones and the people around me equally.”
Hey there! I’m Divya Reddy Meda, and I wear many hats in the world of entrepreneurship, writing, and social innovation. Armed with a master’s degree in entrepreneurship from the University of Notre Dame, I’ve honed my skills and insights into creating and scaling ventures that make a real impact.
There was a time when I felt I lost everything in my life. At the age of 13, I was diagnosed with epilepsy caused by a very slight nerve pinch in my brain. I did home-schooling and gracefully finished a couple of years of my schooling before I could join my friends at school again. This turbulence helped me to look at the world from a different pair of glasses. I wondered: with the education system so expensive in India, how can economically underprivileged kids afford an education? I visited some of the orphanages near me and realized there was a significant need for a helping hand. I felt I could not cater to more than one orphanage if I operated all by myself. I also realized many high school kids look for a platform to do community service(CAS) and, in return, get a certificate. I started an NGO, Macle Charitable Trust. The NGO identifies talented high school students who desire to teach and sends them to orphanages to help the underprivileged. Most kids at these orphanages had difficulty with English, as it is not their native language. I have been both a founder and a teacher for Macle, amongst putting on different hats. This position allowed me to oversee various activities. Through this experience, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of both communal and individual learning. As a result, I became more aware of the need for continuous revision and evaluation of our methods. I have also published a self-learn book on basic grammar, Pillars of English, which is more tailored to the orphanages ‘ local needs. This also serves as a reference to the kids for when they finish their learning period through Macle.
I’m not just about personal success — I’m all about fostering collaboration and driving global change. That’s why I co-founded Beyond54, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing people together, sharing resources, and making a positive dent in the universe. We’re on a mission to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and we’re doing it by partnering with other organizations that share our passion.
Oh, did I mention I’m also a wordsmith? As a freelance writer, I’ve crafted well-researched and engaging content for a diverse clientele spanning the realms of business to fiction. And if that wasn’t enough, I’m also a budding author. Two books under my belt — Pillars of English and Art is a Beauty — showcasing my creativity and expertise in grammar and sketching.
I’ve had my fair share of mental health issues throughout my life. But I’ve learned ways to overcome them every time, I think I’ve evolved as a person and gained a tremendous sense of self-awareness. Writing has been my way of expressing the turmoil in my head since I was a kid, guiding me toward self-discovery and allowing me to create my own voice.
