Abstract

lk Festival and I’m what’s sometimes referred to as a “fest baby.”</li><li>I don’t like chocolate but I’ll make an exception for Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.</li><li>I’m a huge cinephile. Some of my favorite movies are Into the Wild, Interstellar, Moonlight, Everything Everywhere All at Once, School of Rock, Soul, Slumdog Millionaire and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Some of my favorite shows are Mr. Robot, Undone, Game of Thrones (with a huge asterisk next to those final two seasons), and Avatar: The Last Airbender.</li><li>I still haven’t explored the comics but I’m a bit of an MCU nerd.</li><li>I’m not religious but I have some pretty strong spiritual convictions.</li><li>I’m deeply nostalgic, a lover of things, and a bit too much of a consumer.</li><li>I love video games. I grew up on mostly Nintendo but I’ve branched out in the years since. I can have fun playing anything from my Atari 7800 and NES to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. I’ve been procrastinating on doing one of these for long enough, so here goes.

My name is Ben and I’m a 26-year-old writer living in Philadelphia.

I love to write. Some of the authors that have had the greatest impression on me are Tom Robbins, Khaled Hosseini, Sam Esmail, Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould, Christopher Nolan, Neil Gaiman, Christopher Hitchens, Stephen King, Gail Tsukiyama, Daniel Quinn, Aldous Huxley, Michael Pollan, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and J.K. Rowling.

I’ve been playing the saxophone since middle school.

I really value my dreams. For the past year I’ve been exploring lucid dreaming and it’s been a pursuit that’s really changed my life a lot.

I’m an only child.

I very nearly played the part of Max in “Where the Wild things Are.”

I think more than anything, music is what inspired my love of words. The Beatles are the band that got me into music but some of my other favorite bands and artists include: Tame Impala, Patrick Watson, The Glass Animals, Temples, Bill Withers, Bon Iver, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Sidney Bechet, Michael Brecker, James Carter, Eminem, Lupe Fiasco, MGMT, Radiohead, The Shins, The Talking Heads, Vampire Weekend, the Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Active Child and Green Day.

I’m a big fan of satire. I attribute that mostly to my lifelong appreciation of South Park.

I have a two-year-old puppy named Butters (yes, after the South Park character.)

I really enjoy philosophy. I spend an annoyingly large amount of time thinking about all of the strange things we’re facing as a species.

I’m the son of a prominent Philadelphia musician and an abstract visual artist.
