About Me — Ashley Nicole
Have you ever met an ambidextrous introvert who loves pizza, sports and books?

I have been wanting to write this article for a while now but every time I sit down to start I find myself lost for the right words.
Does anyone else find it hard to write about themselves?
It should be the easiest topic because no one knows you as well as you know yourself, right?
Ok, let’s give this a try…
My name is Ashley (my middle name is Nicole). I am married to my soulmate and best friend, Luke for the past 5 years. I don’t know what I would do without him. If you would like to know our story of how we met, you can check out this article or this video for all you visual learners out there. It’s a pretty unique story that we enjoy sharing.
I am a first-time mom to be to the most amazing little girl. I could go on and on about her… she’s making my dream of becoming a mother come true and I couldn’t be more grateful.
Now, let’s rewind back to when I was a kid. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a teacher. I remember being in the second grade and making up my mind, right then and there.
I started college majoring in Liberal Studies. After 2 and a half years, I decided that if teaching was something I wanted to pursue, it wouldn’t be the only profession I wanted to experience in my life. I changed my major to Business Administration. I received my Bachelor’s degree in 2011 with no real idea of what I wanted to do in my professional career.
Fast forward 2 years to 2013, where I landed my current job as a business assistant, in charge of payroll at a local school district. I have also started a YouTube channel with my hubby back in March of 2020. That is something we truly enjoy doing together. I also enjoy editing all our videos. It is something that gets my creative juices flowing that I do not otherwise get to tap into on a regular basis.
At the end of February 2021 is when I started my writing journey. I have never been a writer nor ever considered it. Writing was never my strong subject in school. I am, and always will be a numbers kind of gal. I heard about Medium through a Shelby Church YouTube video many months prior to publishing my first article. I never really saw writing as something I would be good at or ever enjoy.
Months later I decided to give it a try and start by doing what Shelby did… turn our YouTube videos into articles. We had posted many videos on health, nutrition and fitness and I knew the information we put out there was very important for people to learn about. I was hoping our research and knowledge would reach a whole new audience through my writing.
I felt a rush the first time I hit “publish” on my very first article. I still get that same rush every time we post a new YouTube video, over a year later. You are putting something you created and worked so hard on out into the world for everyone to see. It’s scary, humbling and exciting all at the same time.
Since starting to write on Medium a few months ago I have published a total of 38 articles. Luke is my editor. He reads all my drafts, gives me pointers, proofreads and gives me feedback. I am very grateful that he does that for me. I really enjoy writing and look forward to what this new path has in store for me.
Fast forward to today, May 2021 where I know the possibilities for me are endless. My next and biggest goal in life is to be the best role model for my daughter that I can possibly be. Someone she can look up to and know anything she sets her mind to is possible. I can’t wait to be a mother and see what the future holds for me and my little family.
