About Me: Who Am I and Why Am I here?

I’m David Grinberg — ”Damn glad to meet you!”

Hello friends on Medium and ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications…

By way of introduction, I’m a lifelong writer. My writing career began during my teenage years for my high school newspaper. Then, in college, I worked as the editorial page editor and an award winning columnist for the nationally recognized daily student newspaper.

In my day job, I’m a strategic communications consultant and ghostwriter. I moonlight as a freelance writer/blogger as a “side hustle” in my spare time.

To paraphrase a line from the iconic American movie of my youth, Animal House: I’m David Grinberg — “Damn glad to meet you!”

My Writing/Blogging

I’ve been featured on numerous digital media platforms over the past decade, including: The Washington Post, Business Insider, Thrive Global, LinkedIn, Medium, The Good Men Project, American Diversity Report, PR Daily, Social Media Today, BIZCATALYST360, and GovLoop.

I’m an approved writer here on Medium for eight publications (including The Startup, with a following of nearly 800,000).

I believe in engaging readers with diverse viewpoints in an open online dialogue to enhance civil discourse on issues of the day.

I try to understand various viewpoints for which I may strongly disagree. I strive for fairness, factual accuracy and objectivity in my writing.

My Career & Honors

During my career, I have been recognized among the following:

◾️“Top Strategic Communications Voice” (LinkedIn) ◾️”Top 100 PR Influencer Index” (commetric.com) ◾️”Top 100 Social Media Marketing Influencer” (onalytica.com) ◾️”Top 100 Social Media Intelligence Authority” (teamallegiance.com). ◾️ “Top Writer” on Medium for Government, Journalism and Social Media.

My Day Job & SME

In my day job as a strategic comms consultant, I optimize positive perception of public policy issues through enhanced media and brand visibility. I help organizations and individuals excel in leveraging public relations, earned media, multi-platform content creation, and social media marketing for a high return on investment in the digital media space.

I’m a subject matter expert (SME) in public policy issues of equal opportunity and equal justice, civil rights and diversity-equity-inclusion, as well as corporate governance and corporate social responsibility.

I live and breathe government, politics, public affairs, journalism and media generally.

My Politics

My political affiliation for the past 20-years has been registered Independent. I consider myself a middle-of-the-road moderate who may swing left or right based on specific policy issues. I was previously active in the Democratic Party when I worked for President Bill Clinton in my 20s after college.

As a former federal government spokesman with decades of public service, I have held various positions at the White House, Congress (Office of the House Majority Leader), and federal government agencies (OMB and EEOC).

I’ve also worked stints in journalism as a beat reporter, features writer, and column writer (opinion-editorial). I once worked a side gig as a USA Brand Ambassador for a social media startup based in Madrid, Spain (which is still operating).

My Generation & Roots

I’m a proud member of Generation X who was born and raised in New York. I graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Journalism. I reside with my wife in the Washington-DC area.

You can also find me on LinkedIn, where I welcome invites to connect — just mention our joint affiliation with Medium and/or Illumination.

I’m not a social media “junkie” per se. Thus, you won’t find me on other big platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or X (Twitter), etc.

I look forward to positive and constructive engagement with readers and writers across this platform.

I try to respond to most comments on my published articles, as I deem appropriate and time permitting.

I always greatly appreciate engagement with my writing — so thank you in advance.

Onward and upward together!
