"All My Little Words" is a personal blog by a GenX writer from the PNW, sharing musings on various topics, including vegan recipes, career insights, music, and parenting, with an aim to make an impact through writing.
Abstract
The blog "All My Little Words" began as a weekly vegan recipe blog but has since evolved to encompass a broader range of topics. The author, a mid-senior editorial worker at an online tech giant and a music enthusiast, uses the platform to explore diverse subjects through a personal lens. The blog's title is inspired by a song from the Magnetic Fields' album "69 Love Songs," reflecting the author's appreciation for music and the irony of writing's potential futility. Despite this, the author is optimistic about the impact of their writing, aiming to share thoughts on technology, music, parenting, and more, while also encouraging readers to support independent writers by subscribing or joining Medium.

A call to action is presented to readers, encouraging them to subscribe and join Medium to support the author and other independent writers.
About All My Little Words
What could be more ironic than naming my blog after the futility of words?

I Needed a Writing Moniker
I started this blog last fall as Once a Week Vegan, sharing my weekly recipes and thoughts on how incremental change can move the world.
But I never intended to run a cooking blog. The world certainly has enough of those, run by farsuperiorcooks to me. I launched Once a Week Vegan as a way to test Medium as a content platform (I like it), while I sorted through my thoughts of what I really wanted to be writing about (turns out, basically everything).
All I needed next was a new moniker. Of course, my thoughts turned to song lyrics…
The name feels fitting as this will be where I share all my little words. I appreciate the built-in humility in the name, and that it works whether you recognize the musical reference or not.
Sure, the song’s lyrics are about the futility of words changing someone’s heart or mind. Some many consider this inauspicious.
But to my GenX heart, the irony is perfection.
“Not for all the tea in China
Not if I could sing like a bird
Not for all North Carolina
Not for all my little words
Not if I could write for you
The sweetest song you ever heard
It doesn’t matter what I’ll do
Not for all my little words”
Because I Think My Little Words Will Make an Impact
So, about all those little words I plan to write. I’ve decided this blog won’t be niche.
I plan to write about any and all topics of interest — from my career as a mid-senior editorial worker bee at an online tech giant, to my life as an imaginary girl, to my passion for music and karaoke, to parenting my two teens through the rubbish of this modern life — all through the lens of me, a PNW-based GenXer with an offbeat perspective of how and why the world works (or doesn’t work) the way it does.
I’ll be using this space to up-level some of the writing I’ve done in the past on Three Imaginary Girls as well as other publications and social media channels.
I’ll still post the intermittent vegan recipe, too. I have a cannellini bean and sage one you’re gonna love.
I hope you’re going to love it all.
Because I’d like to think it does matter what I do, and that the words I’ll write for you will make an impact, even if only for me.
