Abortion is About Control, Not Life
There is the baby inside the womb, the mother, and the politics
Politically speaking, the issue of abortion has never been about the life of the child, but making women slaves to the state as they were in the past. If we look at how the loss of Roe vs Wade is playing out in states who have outlawed abortion, some of them are literally hunting women down they suspect are leaving the state to terminate their pregnancy. Some states have counties making it illegal to travel through their county seeking an abortion.
These states use spying, coercing friends to tell, neighbors, and churches to inform on women who are pregnant and traveling to states where abortion is legal. This sort of shit has nothing to do with preserving life, but has everything to do with men, backed by religion, using government, to try and turn the clock back on women’s rights. It is sickening to watch Evangelicals and Republicans yammer on an on about morals, freedom, pro-life, and big government coming to get them when it is their ideology that is actually the one carrying out intrusive government.
States like Texas are disallowing women like Kate Cox to make an exception and terminate her pregnancy. She is pregnant with a child that has a fatal deformity and is endangering her ability to have children in the future but Texas said no. This Makes liars out of the anti-abortionist who claim to support danger to the mother as an exception. As most women already know, the issue of abortion is not only controlling women, but to find a way to usurp Democracy itself. As Chris Hedges states in his article, “The Greatest Threat to Choice.”

Contrary to the claims by anti-abortionist and Evangelicals of loving women, you cannot support anti-abortion laws without being a misogynist. The only people who want to control other humans are self-loathing, weak, and hateful. Making abortion illegal is giving the state control over women’s bodies and makes them slaves. In red states where Evangelicals have huge influence politically, it also makes women slaves to a form of religion that wants to control every aspect of a person’s life, especially the free sexuality of women.
Anti-abortionist are almost always Evangelical types who miss the days of being able to slap their wives around, promote purity rape culture, beat their children, regulate birth control, ostracize unwed pregnant women, and using the state to inflict terror on those who dare stand up for their basic civil rights. This is another reason freedom of religion with regard to political influence needs to be more regulated if not completely outlawed.
Prior to Roe vs Wade, women suffered death threats, abuse, and other forms of violence for seeking the right to be equal to men. As things stand now, the states which have outlawed abortion are becoming more and more draconian and rushing quickly towards real state approved Fascism. The idea of state police hunting women down who are traveling out of state for abortions is terrifying to think about. They used to make dystopian movies about such things that have now become a reality.
If you believe voting Democrat is going to save this from happening think again. The loss of Roe vs Wade happened on Biden’s watch, and while he is spending tax payer dollars in Ukraine and Israel, he could have been giving the same money and attention to fight the Christian Nazis in red states on the abortion issue. The bottom line for a woman’s right to choose, is it is not a state issue at all, but should be a Federally protected Civil Rights issue. If you want to see why the white supremacist Confederate types love states rights, all we need to do is look how they are now treating women.
Sadly, male politicians generally only care about the abortion issue on a political spectrum as it suits their Corporate donors, but women have to live with the consequences. This is disturbing for women in America because American politics regardless of the party, is still mostly run by old Christian white men who are trying to regain lost footholds on people’s lives. The loss of legal abortion is just the beginning, soon they will be attempting to reinstate blasphemy laws, sodomy laws, regulating birth control, and overturning gay marriage to name a few.
If it sounds ridiculous, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas all have laws on the books making oral and anal sex illegal, and we have to wonder the horrors they use to capture people in the act. The Fascist are actually coming for us, and making abortion illegal was a huge victory for their evil intent. It is time for us on the left to hold those we vote for who claim to be liberal or Progressive accountable for their incompetence and double talk.
