A gift of kindness
š³A younger man called us āGolden Girlsā š¤

I was sitting there with my friends in a restaurant that we knowā¦
After we had finished our meal the young man that worked there came over to our table to ask us how we were doing.
Yet this is how he said it,
āHow are you āGOLDEN GIRLSā doing?ā
I was taken aback (thatās āold speakā for shocked) and I hope my face didnāt show it. š
But Iām being honest when I say I wondered how this young man might even know about those girls and that TV series?
Was he making a jab at our ages?
Or maybe he thought he had come up with a good name for us women (now past our prime) ā¦
Either way you slice it he seemed a bit ācheekyā to me (that means ābold and a tad rudeā). š
Iām still not really sure because on his face he wore such a huge smile.

In fact, it was one of the biggest smiles I had ever seen on someone his age.
He seemed like he had some sort of inner joke going on inside of his head.
Maybe he thought heād āGet our goat.ā (That means to have āput one over on usā ā¦like an inside joke between he and himself.)
Or maybe someone he worked with put him up to it.
ā who knows.
But his calling us āGOLDEN GIRLSā truly made our day.
ā In fact, we all had a good laugh over it.
And we decided to take it as a gift of KINDNESS that he was giving to usāā
Because itās great when someone his age decides to suddenly cheer up a table of āolderā women having a nice afternoon out with friends. It was SO unexpected and appreciated!
Seems to me that it was a sort of GIFT that he sprung on us suddenly and out of the blue.

So, the next time someone speaks to you cheerily take it as a gift of kindness.
Unexpected, yet well received.
We all need those little surprises ā¦

I read Aliās story below and decided to try my hand at it today. Thank you for reading.
