A Year Writing in Medium: My Experience

Written articles and earnings after a year of writing in Medium

A year ago, I started to write seriously on Medium. Previously, I was a member and I had written a couple of articles, but it was in November 2022 when I started to create articles periodically. This past year has been a whirlwind of learning, growth, and surprises, both in terms of the stories I’ve had the privilege to tell and the financial gains that have accompanied them.

Below, I’ll share a month-by-month breakdown of the articles I wrote and my earnings. This financial facet provides a tangible glimpse into the rewards that anybody can earn if you dedicate time and you are consistent.

Month-by-month articles

I have written only 1 article before November 2022, but this month I started to take writing seriously. While I had written 2 articles before November 2022, I have written 97 articles now, and it’s increase little by little.

Below, I show a graph with the articles I wrote in function of the month since November 2022. I started to write a lot up to April 2023 (with a maximum of 25 articles in January 2023), when I decided to write one article each week.

Month-by-month earnings

My earnings in this year increase to a total of 183$. The graph below shows the earnings for each month. Earnings due to my written stories and due to referred members are detailed. Right now I’m earning 2.01$ every month due to this program. However, since August 2023 this program has been cancelled, so I suppose my earnings due to this will reduce to 0$ in the future.

The important point of this graph is that my earnings are increasing month by month since I started to write 1 article each wee. There was a decline in earnings after August 2023, which I think it may be because of the New Medium Partner Program. However, last October my earnings established a new record of 25.03$ (23.01$ from Stories), so I think I’m still increasing the money I earn on Medium with this strategy.

Conclusions

This articles showed my statistics in writing and earnings of my last year in Medium. As I said, I started to write an article per week, while my earnings are increasing. Therefore, I will keep with this strategy to know how much my earnings my increase.
