A Writer’s Prompt: Simple Beauty

Finding that simple beauty in a cold spring morn.

There is simple beauty in the world. It’s amazing. It’s simple, yet so complex. What our Creator has done and can do.

Today, here in my little corner of the Pacific NorthWest, the sun is shining. It’s gorgeous outside, making it a perfect day to see the beauty our Creator has given us. I call Him God. You may have other words to describe the Creator of the universe.

But no matter what your belief system, I don’t think you can argue the beauty of a morning started with the sun shining down on the dew covered grass. Being able to watch the steam that arises on mornings like these. Watching the shadows cast by the branches of trees and bushes ripe with newly grown buds.

As I look out my window, I’m able to see that soon I’ll be having lilacs to examine and the ability to inhale their heavenly scent. I’ll be able to appreciate the simple, yet complex, colors of lilacs and the ornamental maple that will soon show its own glory.

Was it only a month ago when I looked at the simple beauty of a snowy winter’s morn? And then a week later the stark, cold, barren branches that look as if they’ll never bloom again.

Our world is filled with a simple beauty that is also majestic. And that is only the tip of the iceberg.

Where will you spot the simple beauty that is our world?
