A weekly self-care/ check-in routine

I’ve been doing sporadic check-ins on Twitter and I’m looking to make it more of a routine. My goal with the routine is to consistently revisit pieces of self-care that I believe are helpful, and to empower others to join along too. Here’s my devised schedule:

Mondays — start of the week

Reflection: What are you most excited to dive into this week?

Mondays are often hard for me so I want to shift that “ugh it’s Monday” feeling into a “fresh new week to dive into my goals!” feeling.

Tuesday — staying on the self-care track

Challenge: schedule one activity in each of the four quadrants of self-care

created on Canva

Wednesday — Hump day check-in

Take one and pass it on:

  • 1 minute meditation
  • journalling for 3 pages
  • reaching out to a friend
  • get active for 20 minutes

Thursday — emotions

Reflection: How are you feeling in your body today and in response, what are you going to do to take care of yourself?

Friday — end of week!

  1. What were some successes from this week (no matter how small!) and how are you going to celebrate them?
  2. What were some barriers? Set a 1 minute timer and jot down as many solutions to problem solve around them!

Weekend — creativity challenges!

Drawing and writing are fun even if you’re a novice (or actually, I feel that it’s especially fun as a novice)

  • Saturdays: a weekly drawing challenge thread
  • Sundays: a weekly writing challenge thread

I truly believe that everyone can write and draw, and yes, there might be a lot of rules in the literature and art world, but when you create for yourself, for fun, I strongly believe in breaking all of those rules to create whatever sparks joy for you, specifically.

I’m really excited to see how this schedule will pan out. I’m truthfully mostly doing this mostly for myself, but harnessing the power of public accountability and the fun of doing this together rather than alone to make this happen.

Here’s the first thread for today!

Don’t be shy and come join me :)
