PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
A Week of Christmas, Sunsets and Beachdays
Week 125 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
I’m not a Christmas person unless we have temperatures below zero and it’s snowing outside. Spending the past few years in warm climates wasn’t a problem for me over December.
And so is this year. I can easily live without a Christmas tree, piles of presents, the stress that comes with it and much rather be on the beach and enjoy some sunshine.
Join me on my daily life through the week before and after Christmas in Namibia.
Thursday, the 22nd December. It was a sunny day. And while I can’t remember what I was doing I am pretty sure we were busy getting stuff done on our car and buying things for our trip.
Finishing the day with a lovely sunset watched from the balcony.

No, there won’t be fake Christmas trees I’m setting up but I did decorate a small wreath hanging on the door of my in-laws. I dried some apples and oranges and tied them together with some decorations we bought in Romania.

I mentioned before, we do celebrate Christmas on the 24th but while I’ll be covered in layers of clothes in Germany, I had to apply sunscreen on and walked with my toes through the sand in Namibia.

On the 25th, friends of ours hosted a big Christmas party at their house. They had a present exchange organized and we had to roll through the grass playing games in public.
Let me tell you one thing — we laughed a lot.
And ate good as well. See below.

The following day I was back in the air. Taking students to the sky I could only enjoy this beautiful view once I was under canopy again. Always special.
This is Namibia.

And as soon as the Christmas parties are over, my special day comes around the corner. I’m not a big birthday person but love spending the time with my friends and family in Namibia.
They all dressed up for me wearing something yellow, my favorite color. We had a braai (Afrikaans for barbecue) and I got some freshly caught crayfish from the sea.
What else could you wish for?
Oh right, 30 balloons. Yes, they are part of my tradition of celebrating my birthday in Namibia. So is that wearing yellow thing…

The day after?
Back to the skies and I decided to start and finish this week with a sunset picture.
Here it is.
Greetings from Namibia.

This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome everyone! Dennett started this photography challenge in 2020 and many have participated ever since.
