SOUL MAGAZINE/ HEART/ SOUL
A Week in Letters – 7
Your writing is as letters to the heart and soul

I am enjoying using the inspiring owner of ‘Soul Magazine’s’ diary prompt to collate your stories as letters. If you don’t know our founder, do check out the landing page of Katherine.
This week, I have invited my fellow editors to suggest and share the links to their favourite stories submitted to our growing publication and community of writers. This is also an opportunity for us to introduce ourselves as editors and to get to know you better.
Without further ado, here goes:
My favourite ‘story’ in the form of a poem in Soul Mag this week is by a writer I have been following for around a year on Medium. I joined almost two years ago and a great deal has changed since then, so it is always good to return to familiar faces and read well-crafted words from writers like LC Lynch :
1.
I particularly enjoy repetition in poetry and the repetitive, rhythmic ambience created by the words, ‘I’ll be your Anchor’ in this carefully crafted poem, gives me the reassurance I find in litany. For me, repetition can be reassuring when handled well. The repetitive action of a regular habit like brewing a cup of herbal tea, as though giving yourself a hug is akin to the repetition of ‘I’ll be your anchor’, a reassuring promise offered by poem. Leah is a talented poet.
Jessica Montes’ submission of the week is Dominic Mitchener’s poem “An Ode to Your Inner Child.”
2.
It’s a simple, sweet reminder to embrace “your honest origins” and the joy that comes from engaging in childlike activities.
3.
Samantha: Fran Holly ✨ beautifully articulates exactly what many of us are feeling.
Especially as a fellow freelancer, I too also just enjoy my job. I don’t want to be an expert in all these different niches and I want to embrace wanting enough. No more, no less.
Her description of not wanting to be the over-achiever, finding peace in just “being”. It caught my eye immediately as it resonated with how I view things.
We simply don’t dream of labor.
Henry: My submission for the week is Ravi M’s exploration of “The Transformative Journey of Consciousness as God.”
Most people who consider themselves spiritual are familiar with the idea of “god consciousness.”
With the concept of “Consciousness as God,” Ravi invites a shift in the reader’s perspective from something to seek (god consciousness) to something one is. This resonates with every mystical experience I’ve ever had.
Ravi’s article takes a topic that could initially surprise or intimidate and turns it into something approachable and welcoming. It’s peppered with nuggets of pure wisdom and advice that show how the awareness of consciousness as God might be fostered.
5.Sreeja Saraswati
Let me classify my picks
- A therapeutic article to heal the Soul
- A Story that nourishes the Soul
- A Poem that inspires the Soul
So, these are my picks of last week submissions-
- Sitting idle can cause Satan to pop up. It induces negativity, lethargy and hormone imbalance, culminating to depression and chronic diseases. The body and soul are intertwined, so this is an inspiring piece by Ken Namai
2. The bonds unseen, the ancestors define you. Your soul keeps seeking the universe through their eyes immortal CJ Coop
3. The greatest lesson in life is to let things go… Nothing is ours, it was here, owned by someone, we craft it as if ours and finally it goes. Daniel’s Poems
Thanks goes out to my fellow editors for adding their stories to the mix this week. Happy Valentine's Day.
