A 1-metre (3.3-foot) near-Earth asteroid is discovered before falling as a harmless bolide over central Ontario, Canada, at 08:27 UTC. It is the sixth asteroid to be discovered before impacting Earth.

It is announced that inflation in Japan increased by 3.6% in October, which is the highest level of inflation recorded in the country since 1982.

Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes is sentenced by a court in the U.S. state of California to more than 11 years in prison on four counts of fraud, and for misleading investors on the reliability of her company’s technology. Her sentence will begin on April 27, 2023.

- On this day, in 1863, King Christian IX of Denmark signs the November constitution that declares Schleswig to be part of Denmark. This is seen by the German Confederation as a violation of the London Protocol and leads to the German–Danish war of 1864.

A court in the Netherlands sentences two Russians, Igor Strelkov-Girkin and Sergey Dubinsky, and a Ukrainian pro-Russian separatist Leonid Kharchenko to life imprisonment for shooting down the Malaysia Airlines flight over Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine in 2014. The verdict was delivered in absentia of the defendants.

A missile strike kills two people in the village of Przewodów in eastern Poland. President of the United States Joe Biden says that the missile blast in Poland was caused by a Ukrainian air defense missile. U.S. officials had earlier told the Associated Press that preliminary findings suggested that the missile that hit Poland was fired by Ukrainian forces at an incoming Russian missile.

The United Kingdom and France sign a revised border control agreement to stop migrant boats from crossing the English Channel amid record numbers of migrants making the crossing. The agreement will increase the number of officers patrolling the French coast to 300 and have British police officers work with their French counterparts in control rooms and on beaches.

Turkish interior minister Süleyman Soylu says that 46 people, including the Syrian woman accused of planting the bomb, have been detained. Süleyman also accuses the Kurdistan Workers’ Party of being behind the attack.
