A Warning About Tree-hugging

How Mother Nature kept me indoors this morning

I have written ad nauseum about Earthing and tree-hugging. I’m sure everyone is sick of it. But this morning I am going to write about NOT Earthing and NOT tree-hugging so everyone can relax.

For the first time in several months I did not partake of my early morning sunrise Earthing and tree-hugging ritualistic practice today. Mother Nature would not let me. Apparently she thought I needed a break.

This morning I awoke to a violent thunderstorm that lasted over an hour. Normally around this neck of the prairie thunderstorms happen in the afternoon and evening. So it was rather disconcerting to wake up to violent wind and rain pouring through my opened bedroom window. Since my bed is right by the window I was awakened by being rained on. I can’t remember the last time that happened.

So I could not go to the school yard to do my naked feet walking and tree-hugging. I was dramatically shaken out of my regular morning routine. I was dazed and disoriented and upset. Couldn’t Mother Nature have waited before she let loose the dogs of weather?

I have not missed a single morning of Earthing in months. How could I proceed with my day without my grounding? But then I remembered that prior to when I started Earthing I had gone many, many decades without it — and I survived. Surely I would survive going one morning without it.

There just was no way that I was going to walk over the grass with naked feet and hug trees in the middle of a violent thunderstorm.

And that is when I realized something. Even before I started Earthing I have been an ardent proponent of tree-hugging for decades. And I have written about it a lot. But in all that writing I failed to provide the requisite warnings about the one danger of tree-hugging. I was negligent. So I hereby give that warning:

Do not hug trees in the middle of a violent thunderstorm!

Seriously, it’s not a good idea. I should probably find all the articles I’ve written about the benefits of tree-hugging and add that warning to them. But who has the time for that?

Anyway, I might not be grounded and I may be off my game because of it but I did manage to finally finish my new third podcast. Curiously, it is about cycles of nature and how humans can rejuvenate by getting in sync with those cycles. I guess Ma Nature decided to add emphasis.

You can listen to the podcast here: Energy Cycles and Disease. After my blabbering I also shared some news that you don’t want to miss. I think I want to add some fun to the podcasts so that they are not just serious blabber.

Anyway, the sun is out and there is not a cloud in the sky. Perhaps I’ll do a late morning Earthing. I’m sure the grass will still be wet but that’s okay. At least I’ll be able to hug trees without fear of electrocution.

Thanks for reading and hug a tree when you can. (They really like it.)
