Finding a new perspective

“Every time it feels like the world is out of control, all I have to do is look up, and I remember there is an order to everything. There is someone bigger than my problems, bigger than the Mist, bigger than anything that can happen in this world. And because of that, I can breathe a sigh of relief.” ― Morgan L. Busse, Secrets in the Mist

I’ve always been that person looking up at the sky, the clouds, the trees. Searching, admiring. I’ve taken pictures looking up, but not as close to the subject as Anne Bonfert did in her post, Looking Up. A different perspective gives you a different result.

All these trees pictured are in our yard. The main photo is the tree I gravitate to when reading outside during the summer month. Feels like a protected canopy.

During the hot summer days, I lounge under the tree with glints of the sun shining through the thick layers of branches and leaves.

Now it is almost winter here in Minnesota. We’ve been having a few unseasonably warm days mixed with the typical almost-winter like days.

Yesterday, my husband and I took advantage of the beautiful weather to put away the summer chairs, table umbrella, and gardening supplies.

As I was outside tidying up, I looked up at the tree closest to our home, noticing the nest so close to the edge of a tree branch, hovering right above our seasonal porch.

I remembered Anne’s Looking Up post and walked over to the tree trunk to look up. I couldn’t stop taking photos. The beauty of the vibrant blue sky against the leafless branches.

Now my green covered canopy is thinned out, ready for its season of rest. I’ll be waiting with my camera to take more photos in the winter and the spring.

If my neighbors saw me walking around my yard while I was taking pictures looking up, I’m sure they were wondering what I was doing.

Or maybe later I’ll find them doing the same.
