A Valentines Day Poem to My Wife — 2023

Love hits hard Then life takes hold With pit-bull-like persistence Passion’s flame Grows less intense In spite of our insistence
Time’s swift blows Reap loss and grief Work’s stress and constant tension Tie frenzied minds In twisted knots That beggar comprehension
Wounds repair Then hardship wanes Companionship grows deeper Togetherness then Weaves a bond Becoming our safe-keeper
Love transforms Before our eyes Allowing them to focus I see you now In fresh new ways Like Cupid just awoke us
He’s right on time As all things are One eventually discovers This holiday Was meant for us And all our fellow lovers
So take my hand And stroke my cheek Till our hearts reach syncopation Close your eyes And sleep with me As one in our elation
Words are wise And find their way To where no one can steal them Mine to you Are filled with LOVE May you forever feel them
