A Utah Poll Says Trump Reflects Their GOP Values
It was a newspaper report
Utah is one of the reddest states.
Senator Mitt Romney has announced that he will not run for reelection to a second term of representing Utah in the United States Senate. He says he will leave the leadership to a younger generation. There are several people running for the seat that he will be vacating when his term is up.
Although he initially seemed to be supporting Trump, Romney became one of Trump’s strongest critics in Congress. He twice voted to impeach Trump. Romney seemed to indicate that Trump does not have the morals or values that should be part of the conservative agenda.
As one of the most red states in the nation, Utah has been seen largely as a religious and conservative state. The dominant church in the state has long been The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of which Senator Romney is a member.
Samuel Benson had a story in The Deseret News titled: “Poll: Most GOP voters say Trump reflects their values.”
Most Republicans believe Donald Trump reflects their moral values and most Democrats say the same about President Joe Biden, according to a new poll.
A Deseret News/HarrisX poll asked over 1,000 registered U.S. voters, “To what extend does Donald Trump reflect your personal values?” Among self-described Republican voters, 38% responded “a great deal” and 41% said “some.”
When the same question was asked about Biden, 43% of Democrats said “a great deal” and 41% said “some.”
Responses largely fell across party lines. While nearly 4 in 5 Republicans said Trump reflects their personal moral values, only about one-third said the same of Biden. And while 84% of Democrats say Biden reflects their values, only 16% of Republicans say the same.
There was a poll taken in September 2023 in which 53% of Republicans said they saw Trump as a “person of faith” more so than any other politicians listed which included Biden, Romney, and former Vice President Mike Pence.
With all the publicity about Trump’s legal problems, lawsuits, moral issues, and lies, the poll results seem surprising among so called “people of faith.” Trump may be fooling millions of people.
