A Trick For Extra Memory That Built A New Me

If you feel like your memory is weak and you struggle with learning new things, stay here.

Having difficulty in concentrating and remembering things to do is a common problem. Some people have it as an everyday difficulty, but some others really suffer.

Some years ago I belonged to the category of suffering with low memory. I was really burnt out after years of burning myself with tones of information, most of which was useless and emotional things I couldn’t put in order.

At some point, I felt like I couldn’t do this anymore. I hit the edge and the only way to go back to life was to start back from zero, reform my virtues and start habits straight from the straight beginning.

I had to reprogram my brain.

We all understand this is a very difficult thing to do. For all the reasons. The brain has patterns of thinking, patterns not only we created through all the years of living, but also patterns from our mum and environment, even maybe decades ago before our birth.

I am talking very specifically about the thing I understood about my generation tree and what we were suffering from.

Overthinking. Thinking about things of the past and the future, suffering for the past, worrying for the future and suffering about it.

This was a behaviour that had two natures.

  1. Experiences that passed through genes from my ancestors.
  2. The funcion of the brain.

We talked about number 1, let’s go to number 2.

A book that helped me go to this conclusion is “Death” by Julian Barnes.

The brain is an organ. The organs have only one job to do. The brain’s job is to keep you alive.

It can keep you alive by giving you fear. Fear has kept us alive all these thousands of years of evolution. Fear of heights, fear of animals.

At some point though, we overdo it. There is a balance between “my brain keeps me alive” and “my brain takes me whatever it wants”.

We navigate the brain. Not the brain, us.

How can I help myself towards this direction?

Give yourself practical things to solve.

Worrying about the past and creating worries about the future, is a waste of imagination.

We will be doing this, we are humans and we suffer about things that have happened to us. What we need to do is eliminate the time we occupy our minds with the negative.

Your brain remembers. It just remembers the wrong things. Give your brain new information and navigate it towards this direction.

This way we create storage for the new thing we want to learn and at the same time we help ourselves live better.

By the end of this procedure, you will have created a brand new self that maybe sees the previous worries as inferior things. By the practical food you have been giving your brain, you will also have learnt at least one new skill, a language, a musical instrument, maybe you have read a lot of books or created a beautiful garden. You win from two sides.

If you remember the negative thing you said or someone told you ten years ago, you have good memory. Eliminate the time you are thinking about it, create the room for the new information and enjoy the results some years from now.
