A Thank You Note For Your Prayers

To all those who raised their hands up for me

Sometimes I wonder

where I was and where I’m today

what I’ve become

A poet, a blogger, a writer, a voice that never shushes!

are they due to someone’s prayers? are they my grandma’s?

Perhaps my late grandfather’s blessings from above?

are they the sacrifices of my ancestors, the unsung heroes?

are my own unspoken prayers answered?

my tears leaking the words my lips betray

who is praying for me and why?

all I know is that something changed

maybe fighting for a cause, raising your voice

making your presence known; maybe just maybe

leaves a mark behind

maybe praising the Lord of the Worlds

wings a soul free, to write what lips conceal

I thank you all who prayed for me

my family, friends, even my muse — maybe I confuse

I thank you all from the bottom chambers of my heart

thank you for a bucket full, thank you for your pouring, never-ending love

even when my bucket is leaky, you pour it with more prayers

for all those who prayed for me, are special entities

I can feel your prayers working their charm on me

the hands you raise to pray for me, palms cupped; lips in motion, chanting serene prayers, transcending a calm on me

you pray for my life, wellbeing; happiness, focus, and clarity

so Thank You all, may Allah bless you too, all of you, with His limitless bounty!
