Going over some of my recent relationship stories you'd be excused for believing that my life has been nothing less than a rough ride at best and an unmitigated disaster at worst. Certainly I have had more than my share of relationship hard times. However, now in the autumn of my life the leaves that were green have turned to gold. For far too many years I could not have even dreamed how wonderful life can be when you are with the right person.
I am now with an amazing woman who loves and cares for me like nobody ever before, except for my mother. I used to accept it as the norm that at some point in the day I would be violently assaulted, every single day of my life. I did wonder for a long time why I ever put up with it. Then one day a very good friend of mine told me that I put up with because there must have been a compensating factor, some sort of pay off. I have to admit that in the early days it was the incredible sex life we had. However, once that fell by the wayside due to a lack of interest on her part, there really was nothing left to compensate me for the beatings. I guess that was when I finally decided to get out of Dodge city before it totally destroyed me.
Anyway, here I am a new man, reborn into a heavenly relationship which six years on is still going strong. And to reflect that newfound happiness I wrote the article below. I hope this gives some semblance of balance to what might have appeared a one sided view of my relationships. The hard times have long since passed and I well and truly am in seventh heaven. Long live true love.
