“A Strategic Defeat”

What can we take away from that statement made by NATO’s Secretary?

OR is it really — “THE REAL RUSSIAN STRATEGY?”

Most “Politicians” can only see what is in front of their nose. Very few have a “sense of being.”

When you elevate the thinking of this war and look around, more possibilities show up.

This story is a lesson that can be learned by reading the story of the “Lazarillo de Tormes,” some believe Cervantes wrote it though, it is anonymous. There is a passage there when they were walking by a vineyard, (and I am paraphrasing something I read as a teenager), they took a large handful of grapes and sat down to eat them. As they were eating, the blind man said, “Lazaro, you are taking the grapes three by three!” Lazaro: Master, how did you know? “Because as a test, I started eating them two by two; Don’t ever think you can outsmart me.”

BACKGROUND

From ISW December 22, 2023: “NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated on December 22 that Russian President Vladimir Putin “has lost Ukraine altogether” and can “no longer achieve its war goals,” which is a “major strategic defeat.”

THE REALITY OF THE STATEMENT

But a “strategic defeat” does not have the recognition and enforcement of a peace agreement.

I do not think NATO will get that from Putin. He has been playing the West like a Fox forever.

Putin knows what the West will do before he says or does anything. That is how predictable the West politicians are.

It may serve to humiliate the enemy for the public but used to tell Russia they lost, it’s like putting lipstick on a pig, what good is it for? (It is propaganda for the West audience, “Mikey will eat it, he hates everything”).

I do not understand why intelligent people with opinions and politicians(they lie and CYA a lot), say they believe Russia when they open their mouth.

Would you believe a Seal Team, or a Marine Platoon, if they came back from a mission and said: “we went to Osama Bin Laden and told him, he can “no longer achieve his goals,” which is a “major strategic defeat.”

When people are fighting and dying a “strategic defeat” is an insult. What do politicians know about WAR? — NOTHING. (As long as their children are not in the Armed forces).

By-the-way, the Afghanistan and Iraq “Strategic mistake” cost us 5 Trillion Dollars. The American people are FORCED to pay the conceited strategic mistakes of political Presidents; while other beings are getting killed.

Their actions speak louder than words. Russia is like a tin of sardines. Once you open it, you’ve got to work it quickly or you’ll stink up the house. Look what happen to the Germans in WWII Russia, they got defeated for not working quickly. Ukraine did not get the help they needed quickly enough. Now, Russia is stinking up the Ukrainians house. Time is on their side as these…NATO political “beings” are at work giving the Russians all the time they need since the beginning of this century.

The actions from Russia are as clear as a panoramic scenery in a clear day. They have been escalating towards an all out war one step at a time — today they are goading everybody whilst talking to China and North Korea. One common denominator? They are all Nuclear Powers and itching for a World War so they get what they want. If Iran is a Nuclear Power, they are joining the East virtual wall.

POLITICS IN ACTION

On the other hand, NATO and the USA have not been strategic but “political” in the way they dealt with RUSSIA — EVERYTHING we are seeing today is the result of political manipulation and tactical as the CYA actions with Ukraine as we have clearly seen by the West.

Meanwhile Ukraine is fighting for its life and future, and has associated itself with the “maybe” crowd of people (NATO) that basically said, “no worries, we will back you until your chest caves in.” On the other hand, Ukraine is pointing out :

“With fangs in my neck; And our blood on the floor, your wolves were howling…More!”

I THINK THE BASIC QUESTION IS:

Are we now trading off Nuclear Fear with Human Life?

COMMITMENT OR CONTRIBUTION?

What else is there that is keeping NATO (with USA there) from crushing the threat?

When does that stop?

That is not “commitment,” commitment is like the story I was taught when young, of the pig and chicken for breakfast. The chicken “contributes (eggs),” the pig is committed (bacon).” So far NATO and the US are chickens.

In the meantime Ukraine is running out of able (intelligent too) able bodied to throw into this war. Russia having a 4 to 1 ratio advantage can afford to keep doing that for at least two more years.

THIS IS NOW A WAR OF ATTRITION

Russia is using:

1. Material — Gigantic and cheap-to-produce mine fields to slow down the Ukrainians from retaking of their territory.
2. Material — Drones to demoralize the population and create chaos day-to-day. This also keeps a segment of the population maintaining basic people facilities to minimize disease. Marinka: https://x.com/maria_drutska/status/1739340832744886473?s=46
3. Troops in mass to slow down expert troop invasion while at the same time killing Ukrainian real and able soldiers no matter how small the numbers.
4. Time — is on Russia’s side. The people in Ukraine are miserable; they continue to run out of able bodies to fight, and the West is dumb, deaf, and mute.

The length of time this can be maintained is the real weapon. This is enabled by the shrinking able fighting population and the terror to the civilian population.

William Harry McRaven, who served as the ninth commander of the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) from August 8, 2011, to August 28, 2014, explained this in his 1995 publication SPEC OPS — “Case Studies in Special Operations Warfare: Theory and Practice.”

“The attacking Special Operation Forces (SOF) must as quickly as possible obtain relative superiority over their enemy and complete their objective before their enemy can thwart their efforts.”

That tenet, I believe, applies in this war simply by the difference in the capacity Russia has to overrun its enemy with numbers. Ukraine’s strategy had to be similar to a SOF operation. (Today, Russia has stumbled into a strategy that is working.)

“As quickly as possible” has not happened. Figuratively speaking, four Russians are wrestling in a waste deep mud pit with one expert Ukrainian wrestler.

What can Ukraine do?

1. The cost to Ukraine, given time and losses, is increasing and soon can become exponential. This will be known when Russia starts winning battles. Marinka is a very small win for the Russians. 2. The Russian Strategy was acknowledged by Ukraine’s Military Commander, Valery Zaluzhny, in an interview with The Economist, according to the Kyiv Post. The five main points summarized there acknowledge the war of attrition and the inability of Ukraine to overcome that strategy with its current armament.
3. Ukraine does not have the armament capability to overcome the 4 to 1 deficit of able fighting age demographics— they need weapons of: a. non-nuclear mass destruction of people; b. Mass destruction/Clearing of mine fields, with minimum people losses; c. Long range self directed weapons.

That interview was code for that type of help without spelling out the fact he is worried about the health of his Army.

All the articles written that glorify Ukraine’s ability to destroy the enemy with their intelligent, well trained, troops, play right into the hands of Russia, the manipulators of the NATO alliance, and the West hate population. They are ALL tactical in nature and keeps the thick fog of the battle field in front of the public and gives RUSSIA the latest news of their tactics and the strategy that works.

CONCLUSIONS

This ambivalence of the west will and is costing the world a reawakening of the menace of the East.

Three East states who believe humanity are pack animals with brains, Russia, China, and North Korea, for the service of the few are using the war with the west in Ukraine to measure their “nominal” capability and will for war. Are at the forefront of this “Test War,” so far they are not disappointed. The rest of the East cabal has a new member, the Arabs.

The Arabs for their own reasons think it is a good strategy to help Russia. China has already made friends there, as well as in some African Nations.

If Russia does defeat Ukraine. The West has lost WWIII, figuratively. Our “Strategic Defeat” is total. North Korea next action is an invasion of South Korea. China next action is the invasion of Taiwan.

Who can stop them then? The threat of Nuclear war is a laugh. It is not the number of nuclear weapons that count, NO Politician in this world has the stones to do it.

This is simply because the incoming weapon(s) will be met by a larger barrage of weapons going the other way.

Nobody has publicly discussed in too many words what the world will look like after that.

Maybe there is no need.
